Up close and personal.

Raiti is saying $48k, but nothing official has come out.

The interior looks to be from the GT; Ultrasuede on the doors and dash. Also, leather armrest. Lots of red stitching. The center console is not updated, so no charging pad. I guess just the head unit was changed to offer wireless AC/AA.

At that price Raiti needs to make a video "Is the WRX TR better than the S209"

Unfortunately that is the market right now. People are paying well over 50K for the FWD ITS or cars like the GRC.

I know. Im going to have to zonk the current market. Atleast I am seeing dealers with overpriced STIs (and toyota lexus as well) sitting on them before dropping 10+% over a few weeks.

Raiti is just regurgitating the 48k from the magazines, not Subaru.

Is the 2024 Subaru WRX TR an AWD performance car WORTH the PRICE? - YouTube

This guy is such a putz. "It's a 2.5 liter turbo putting out 271 horsepower." "Now you'll notice on this pre-production you are going to get the Alcantara material." LOL. It's a 2.4L and the interior is Ultrasuede. Then again Florida doesn't exactly have the most educated residents. Just keep rambling Raiti, anything to get that ad revenue deposited into your account.

All jokes aside, the car looks SO much better with these wheels! The gunmetal color especially. Unfortunately the car still looks terrible with the cladding and that rear bumper is completely ridiculous. It's a step in the right direction, but $48,000 is asinine for this car.

Even the cladding on that new forester looks better than just 3 holes like a shark’s gills. For 48K can you at least make a piano black cladding for a damn sports car to make it look like the concepts and different than the other trims.

This would be a pretty good looking car without the cladding.

I’m with you on the 2.5 vs 2.4L, but Ultrasuede is the brand name for Alcantara in Japan. Like a subsidiary or whatever. So, they are the same-ish.

Honestly, I’ve seen color matched ones and it somehow looks worse to me. Specially the white ones. Simply making the cladding look less cheap can go a long way.

And $2k-3k below MSRP for a WRX. Seats and brakes don't suddenly make the WRX compete with those vehicles.

If anything the TR brings the WRX more in line with the Elantra N. Pricing hasn't been announced for either yet, but I'd be surprised if the Elantra gets priced higher than the mid to upper 30s. And if the TR is much more than that, it'll likely see as many discounts as any other trim.

Agree that color matched looks worse. It’s like someone tried to do a ghetto widebody kit.

The car needs all cladding removed. Exterior design should mimic BRZ or Levorg without any plastic parts clipped to the body panels. FFS Subaru.

Yup, if you’re gonna have cladding it needs to be piano black or just upgraded in general to look like an actual upgrade over cladding from a damn crosstrek or forester. And indeed, if color matched it needs to not have cladding at all like the Levorg. If you check STI’s instagram they have a pic a white Levorg that just looks so fregging nice. God I wish they’d bring that here that would be my next car 100%

Just no need or purpose whatsoever for the cladding on this body.

They should have done it just like the VA with the fender flare cutoff behind the front wheel, but made it an actual vent like everyone is doing these days.

Even if they did nothing and made it plain like revogu it would have been more than fine. The little bit extra paint/less plastic on the rear bumper goes a long way also.

Oof. Those wheels are 100x better than anything offered on the WRX too.

Bloody hell that looks great. The design, the wheels, the paint color.

At what point are we just going to stop blaming Subaru of Japan, and put the blame where it belongs, on Subaru of America for not bringing this (or something very close to it) to the US? SoJ does still release some fun cars in their domestic market, as well as sometimes to other parts of Asia and Australia. But SoA is the one that only wants to cater to middle-aged soccer moms and ignore every other market segment.

Yeah, they should definitely bring a wagon here so about 5 people would buy it.

When they offered a wagon and sedan last time, the take-rate was rather high.

There is no market here for a car like this. Same reason we never got this and anything similar got pulled. Don't blame Subaru, they are not in a business of losing money.

WRX has the youngest buyer demographic in the segment.

or the Golf R.

I think if the WRX TR can hold more twinkies in the center console, we've got a Raiti approved winner.

That same thinking is why no car makers have offered a true small truck in the US for over a decade, and then all of a sudden Ford brings out the Maverick and it sells nearly 80,000 units last year.

We have seen this movie before. We know how it ends.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...isguised-suvs/

No company in their right mind would waste their time and money with this in the US market.
