So I have to ask, is that a lot for one person? I typically make a 10 cup pot when I brew at home and drink 80-100% of it. Granted I usually warm up the last 2-3 cups later in the day.

I'm not sure. A 5 cup pot fills my 24oz Contigo mug. I don't drink more than that in a day, usually.

It's not excessive. Studies show that people who drink around that amount get serious brain protective benefits, against stuff like alzheimers, Parkinsons, etc. It's a ton of antioxidants, and prevents diabetes, and a lot more. If it's not bothering you or interrupting sleep... Have at it.

Good luck with that. I did look at feet but removing them doesn't make much difference so no help there.

Considering we just bought the house and the kitchen was remodeled quite nicely within the last few years no cutting is happening. Besides, it's not like I have some high end machine; just a Zojirushi drip that happens to be abnormally tall. I would definitely do something if the Baratza didn't fit under the cabinets though!

I switched to decaf a few years ago because I had a really weird reaction to a mid-day cup of coffee. I got super light headed and dizzy, and it didn't pass for a day or two. I've gone about slowly reintroducing normal coffee, and now I'm back to drinking the good stuff, just less of it than before. I used to drink 2 20oz cups every morning.

Buy a bonavita? I mean check the height and all, but it should fit.

Studies also show excess coffee causing unneeded stress and raised blood pressure (which stress could be causing the raised blood pressure), but you're using a stimulant so I guess it doesn't really matter.

And yes, I will treat it as if it is a drug because that is practically what you are doing.

I expect to be flamed.

So, everything in moderation? What's your point?

Moderation is for pussies!

if you have certain cardio vascular conditions, yes, you should watch caffeine intake. Otherwise, it's a healthy drink with really no downside, even at the high end of the intake spectrum, like 10-12 cups a day (and the best brain protective effects are found at that level).

My problems always happen when I drink too little coffee.

Caffeine dependency does have downsides.

i had blood pressure issues....and my sodium intake was quite low as i dont add any salt to food, anyway......and the meds always had some weird side affect that was usually quite anoying

so i cut down on coffee and started taking some herbals(including hawthorn) which were shockingly effective and have NO side affects that im aware of

back to our regularly scheduled cofffee geekout

I use caffeine as a tool. Yesterday I had to switch from day to night shift, so I had 1 espresso in the morning, not two. By 3 pm I was sleepy, knocked out for 3 hours. Success! No way I could have done that otherwise.

Many thanks Nate for all your recommendations (we PM'd about espresso probably a year or more ago)! I ended up with a Rattleware tamper, Baratza Preciso, and Gaggia Evolution. I bought them as a b-day present to myself.

My boy in Chicago heard about my purchases and sent me 3 bags of Intelligentsia and 2 bags of Unicorn Blood from Dark Matter!!!!

It sucks wasting Unicorn Blood on my trial runs....

I'll hit up some of your roasts as soon as I run out (at this rate, won't be long).

First time I tried their espresso, it literally gave me goosebumps.

So good that Three Floyds is using it in their Dark Lord beer this year.

"Bullet proof coffee." Apparently this is a thing.

http://www.bulletproofexec.com/bulle...coffee-recipe/

OT: aware me plz.

Quote:
Ingredients
At least 2tbs Kerrygold unsalted grass-fed butter (I like up to 6 tbps, or 80g or 88 ml).
1-2tbs of MCT oil (15-30 ml)
2 cups (~453g or 500ml) of hot coffee brewed with low-toxin beans (like Bulletproof Upgraded Coffee) using a paper filter (Hario V60 pourover is my favorite brewing method, and it’s only $10).
5 Steps To Bulletproof Your Coffee

#1 Make coffee: Brew coffee as you normally would. Make sure it’s the right kind of coffee. If you haven’t purchased Bulletproof Upgraded Coffee beans, read this post to find the best coffee in your area. Use a brown paper filter.

#2 Pre-heat blender: Boil extra water and pour it into a blender while your coffee brews to pre-heat the blender.

#3 Froth: Empty hot water from the now pre-heated blender and add the brewed coffee, butter, and MCT oil. Blend until there is a thick layer of foam on top like a latte. A Blend-tec or Vitamix blender will do it quickly, a normal countertop blender takes longer, and a handblender works ok if you don’t have a real blender.

#4 (optional) Add cinnamon, vanilla, dark chocolate, or a sweetener like Stevia, erythritol, or xylitol (this is technically a sacrilege if you use awesome beans, but some people love their mocha&hellip

#5 : Put on a satisfied look and enjoy the high performance buzz from your creamy mug of Bulletproof Coffee as you watch your chubby, tired coworkers eat low-fat yogurt and twigs for breakfast. It’s almost unfair.

Oh, and what’s the catch? You will have no excuse for not getting things done now that you’re powered by Bulletproof Coffee.

^it makes the coffee nice and creamy!
Drinking only the Bulletproofed coffee puts the body in Ketosis. Good for short excessive sessions, but I bonk after an 1.5 hrs.

Does what now?

From my reading, it sounds like "this coffee will make you **** your pants extra hard today" coffee.
