Default Picked up new WRX this evening ...

Hello all ... I'm new to the Subaru world, but thought I'd get started over here as well, and have heard these boards are the place to be.

I'm an Audi guy, and have been an active member over on AudiZine and AudiWorld for a couple of years, as I have modded the holy hand-grenades out of my Q5 and have turned it into a custom-built []S model at the current time. This spring I'm going to finalize that car (famous last words) by putting on a set of Coilovers for better suspension and more low, adding new resonated exhaust and HFC/downpipe, new slotted rotors, front Brembos and adjustable control arms to be able to fix any camber issues I get from lowering. I've already modded the crap out of it with a K04 turbo upgrade, APR tune, etc., and a bunch of sport package items both interior and exterior. Once the HFC & exhaust goes on, I'll be up in the 350 bhp range. I'm currently sitting at about 320 bhp. Anyway, I'm not a stranger to the modding world, but I am to the world of performance Subaru.

My wife is now on her second Subaru, as we took delivery on a 2013 WRX 5-door this evening. She went into the dealer to get the oil changed on her 2009 Impreza Outback Sport (blue/silver) and we walked out climbing into the confines of a fresh off the truck 2013 WRX Limited hatchback. She's never been a "car person", but now she loves horsepower!

Here are the specs of the ride:

2013 Impreza WRX (Limited, 5-door hatchback)
------------------------------------------------
*5-door hatch
*Boxer engine (265 bhp, 244 lb-ft torque)
*Turbo with top mount intercooler/hood scoop
*Dark Gray Metallic Paint with BBS Rims (Gray Powdercoated)
*Performance Sport/Track suspension
*Quad exhaust
*5-speed manual tranny with STi shift knob
*Sport Race seats in all black leather with WRX red logo stitching
*Double-red stitched trim on the seats and the steering wheel
*Heated leather seats
*Aluminum race pedals
*Moon roof
*Fogs
*HID Headlamps
*STi Rear Hatch Spoiler

I tried to get her to jump up to the STi, but the WRX car was just set in the showroom, had just come off the truck the afternoon before and unwrapped, and already had 10 people calling about getting it. She's not as worried about the 305 bhp as I would be, but it's her car, and she loves it!

I wanted the up-tuned engine, the Brembos, and the Alcantara upgrade, but that car still goes pretty darn nice, I must say. Love the blacked out look, and that dark gray metallic is a beautiful paint color. The shifter and rear spoiler are both STi as well.

The DCCD and the short throw STi shifter would be nice as well, but she is in love with the car she got and that's all I can ask for.

I have to admit, I love the leather interior myself. Those sport seats are very soft and really comfortable.

Anyway, Hope to learn a bit more about the Subaru's on here. I'm already looking into the Cobb Accessport ...

Congrats! Cobb is sorta simmilar to apr or revo in the sense that they make stage tunes and they are really popular. You could also contact a local tuner for his advice if you decide you want to tune it.

If it makes her and you feel any better, the STI in no quicker or faster. The WRX is a bit underrated, a bit lighter, and less shifting is required in 0-60 and the 1/4 mile resulting to the two cars posting nearly identical 1/4 mile times and trap speeds. Add some firmer dampers, better front pads ($80), a bit more aggressive alignment, and 19mm STI rear sway bar ($90), and you'll have 9 tenths STI in terms of overall performance.

5spd vs 6spd stoutness has always been the real big difference since 04.

Nice looking ride! and don't think the Alcantara is an upgrade. Actually the Limited STI comes with the same leather seats we have! And wives like yours (& mine) are pretty damn rare! Our new WRX Limited is my wife's daily driver too. Gotta love it!

Good to know about the Limited in the STi.
Although I'm sure it has the STi stitching vs the WRX, but I kinda like the WRX stitching.

Here is another pic of delivery yesterday. It is her daily driver as well...

Who knew she would like a blacked out ride? Not me, but I'm glad she does!

I'm due for a new photoshoot on the Q soon. I'm putting a
new body kit on, and I'm in wait mode right now for my RS aftermarket black optic grill. I'll get some up soon tho I promise!

Congrats on the new car! Welcome to the world of Subaru and Nasioc! You and your wife have great taste in cars. My husband wasn't much of a car guy. He's learning. But he enjoys having people ask him about our cars and he gets to say, 'ask my wife. She knows more...'

Suggest you check out the Unibomber Manifesto. While you seem rather advanced in your knowledge, I bet you, still get something out of it!

Welcome!

No leather option for the STi hatch though. Congrats on the buy!

that's true...you can only get the limited in the sti sedan. and yes the stitching says STI. but my point was that the upgraded seats on the STI limited are the same as the wrx limited leather.

Awesome enjoy. U did well with both choice of car and wife. It's always a fun time when the misses likes cars/mods too. My wife loves my sti and knows alot about parts but her heart is taken by her lifted wrangler on 35s. Lol

She wants to learn more about cars now that she has a decent one. All she really knows is it looks cool, and is fun to drive. She likes a manual tranny, and is happy to have a moonroof now.

I'm going with the fact that she's not a fan of mods as I get eye rolls everytime something else shows up at our doorstep to go on my Audi...

Now she can't complain

Nope. Just gotta find what she loves and keep things balanced. I get her a 6" lift and I get a dom 3 and meth kit. Everyone profits. Happy wife equals happy life. Lol
