Default Anyone near Hamilton/Beverly, MA have an ODBII scanner?

Help! I have a dead Scoob in my driveway. It starts and then immediately dies instead of idling. I can keep it running by revving the engine but it's touchy. I think the problem is in the fuel system somewhere.

Anybody out there in my area have an ODBII scanner? I think if I could pull the CEL codes I might get somewhere on fixing this beast. I'm in Hamilton which is near Ipswich, just north of Beverly. I'll try my best to make it worth your time...

Hi Rusty.

I'm in Ipswich. I don't have an ODB-II scanner, but do know how to pull the code without it... My family does have a '95 Legacy in our Subaru stable, so I can help you with this...

Mikey B gets the prize!!! you were absolutely right. I knocked it off while trying to get my too-short funnel into position to fill my tranny.

SubaruRabbit- thanks! I guess I don't need that CEL code anymore, it'll probably just tell me I'm a dumbass. I'm interested, though, how do you pull them without a scanner?

Also for the record, most 1995 Legacys DO require an OBD-II scan tool to pull trouble codes. My 95 Legacy L wagon, manufactured 11/94, certainly does. You can tell for sure by inspecting the emissions label on the underside of the hood.

Rusty,

Here is how you can pull a code without ODB-II scan tool or Subaru Select Monitor:

http://www.xmission.com/~dac/library/codes.htm

Your code is probably still in the computer, though the condition that caused it no longer exists. So you'd probably want to erase it out...

I don't have an OBD tool (yet), but I just wanted to drop in and say hi! I am in your area, we should do a little GTG sometime next week or something, get all the sooby's on the Northshore somewhere...

I think I have seen all of you driving around at least once and wondered if you were on the Iclub...

Rusty the Scoob: Were you at Nicks last night by any chance? I saw Sedona WRX parked against the front...

Hi Schleppy,

That was me next door at Towne Optical getting my eyes checked. Didn't go to Nick's after. This would have been around 3...

Couldn't have been me, I don't have a WRX and I haven't been to Nicks since tuesday.

I'm a generic looking white 95 (BG, I think?) legacy wagon. The only way you can tell me apart from the grocery moms is that I have a Phish sticker in my back window.

Also, if you see a black 02 Jetta wagon or a black 01 SLK 320 driving around, each with a more subtle Phish sticker, those are my gf's cars. We usually take one of her cars when we go places, and I get to drive one when my scoob's out of commission.

Sounds like fun, but I'm usually busy on week nights. Tue - band practice, wed - gig (short freebie at mars music in sommerville) On thursday my other band's playing at Dodge St Grill in Salem. Nice that my schedule is starting to slow down, finally...
