Question Best way to make tranny last ?

I have a 2000 RS turbo'd and im starting to get a little worried about my tranny going in the future. What is the best way to prevent this from happening other than babying the car? And what are the options for new tranny or strengthening it. I will be running about 7psi.
thanks

Never, ever speed shift. Especially not the 1-2 shift.

Double-clutch it.

what's mentioned above + redline shockproof oil. it looks like banana milk and i've used it on several cars and it actually has fixed some existing problems !

If you fully intend not to baby the car, I don't really see what can help you.

Even professional racers have to take care of their machinery. Otherwise it may not last long enough to take them across the finish line at all, much less finish first. It's not like they're all using transmissions which are simply incapable of breaking either.

Don't slam into 2nd gear. If you have an electronic boost controller, adjust it to ramp up boost gradually from 3000-5500 rpm (period of max torque in your powerband).

Above all, *do* baby the transmission. Better safe than sorry.

Colin - when is it best to double clutch - only when you're driving hard or all the time?

I'd never heard of double clutching until today. I started practicing at lunch dropping down from 4th to 3rd to 2nd, takes some getting used to.

All the time. Sometimes, if I'm impatient I'll 1-2 with a single clutch release - but I double-dip .90 of the time. I have 43k on the original clutch, too.
