Talking Looking for stuff for the new Impreza L.

The other thread was getting a bit confusing for me, so I thought I'd start another one.

These are things I am looking for:

Quote:

Remote Keyless Entry (probably buy new)
Security Upgrade (probably buy new)
Cruise Control (probably buy new)

Snow tires for 15" steel wheels
Steel Wheels w/ hubcaps- From Mike, 15"
Splash Gaurds
Rubber Floor Mats
Trunk Light Kit
Arm Rest Extension
Rear Diff. Protector
RS suspension w/ springs - From TMK
17 and 20 mm dia rear sway bar with bushings - From Rajito & P-rex
WRX or RS 5-speed shifter & linkage - Jblaine
RS or WRX front brake calipers (with spacer)
WRX front rotors
Rear disc brake conversion items
a. Rear Calipers - Mr. Blonde
I'd really like to spend no money at all. Heather will be pretty tough to convince if I have to spend money.

So, if your looking to clear out your closet or garage of stuff laying around let me know what you have. Some of the items above are more important to get (snow tires for example) so if you don't hear from me feel free to drop me an e-mail.

Maybe around ice racing season we can meet up for exchanging ownership of said items. If not, I'll be willing to travel if I have time.

If you have items and want $$$, please say so with asking price (so I can cross you off my list)

I'm picking the car up on Friday. They are keeping it indoors for me.

I have a WRX wagon rear swaybar (with bushings) if you want it. Not sure if it'll fit or not. I think it's 17mm

I also have a bunch of half-used WRX front and rear brake pads of various kinds if you get the WRX brakes

I don't think so. All the WRX cars were pre-wired with keyless installed. I don't think the security system upgrade is the same.

I'll check though and let you know.

For the shifter I think you need the entire linkage and all, or the only difference is the leather shifter and boot?

Can you bring it up with you next weekend when you in the area? I think we are meeting up for brunch correct?

I'll let you drive our car if I can beat on the STi?

The ones off the OBS? Those were nice. I'll take them either way. We need to schedule that dinner sometime with Nicole and Alex since I missed your party. I hope Nicole got my e-mail at work about it. I felt bad missing it.

I'm pretty sure the RS shifter linkage is different than the L's. It's more of an STI type part I believe (on the RS).

Well, Kartboy had to redesign the short shifters to work on the WRX's.

Sounds like a deal to me. I can mount the snows on them and leave the RE-92's on the rims I have with the car then. I can decide to keep the BFG or toss them I guess, unless you want them back, which is fine.

I'll talk to Heather about what's going on this weekend. Maybe we can meet up and do dinner or something, and I can pick the rims/tires up.

I am confused on this as well.

we took my WRX shifter, put it in my buddies 2.5RS. then took his RS shifter, and put it in Jeremy's L. so therefore, by default, I woudl thinkt eh WRX shifter would fit in the L as well.

L shifter = RS shifter = WRX shifter = kartboy SS.

they all apear to be the same design and construction, other than the obvious throw lengths, etc.

on another note: Got a WRX sedan rear sway bar, bushings, etc.
got RS springs
soon to have white line springs and RS struts.
17" STI spare tire and steelie
sony flip down CD deck (just needs wiring harness)

and I think that is all. I am at work, so cant check my closet. think a '04 STI grill will fit

Paul,

You can have my RS springs, but you have to take the struts with them, and you have to come get them

I'm about 20-25 mins South of Boston.

Weird. Well, if you go to Kartboy's website, it shows part numbers for two different shifters. It even says to pick the correct one.

And I remember when the WRX first came out, he had tried an RS shifter and it didn't work.

To clear up the shifter debate, the difference in the KB shifters for old skool vs. the new thing is the width of the 'barrel'- the RS one is shorter than a WRX one. An old skool KB shifter will fit in a new age body if you use washers to space it out. A new age one won't fit a old skool car unless you grind down that barrell or bend out the tabs on the pivot arm a bit. If Paul got a stock linkage (complete) from a WRX owner who upgraded to the STi shifter assembly, it will work fine.

TMK, I'll take them both (*cough*Koni install*cough*).
P-rex, thanks for the offer but TMK is closer/easier to get to. I'll take that WRX sedan sway bar if you don't want it though. I can experiment with the wagon and sedan bars.

BACK OFF!!!
Just kidding. It's cool. If anything in here doesn't work out or you see something you don't think I'm taking go for it. I saw your other post too. If I come accross something your looking for and don't want it I'll send them your way.

Sweet!

What about a complete RS shifter linkage. That will work also right?

PS: Brain about this stuff:
Remote Keyless Entry (probably buy new)
Security Upgrade (probably buy new)
Cruise Control (probably buy new)
Splash Gaurds
Rubber Floor Mats
Trunk Light Kit
Arm Rest Extension

I'll be sending you e-mail about them.

So I am confused then, again. is this just on the kartboys that the shifters are different, as opposed to OEM?

SInce, like said above, I have put them in reverse order in the different cars (2002 WRX shifter into 99 RS, 99 RS shifter into 99 L)

P-rex, where they just the shifter or the entire linkage?

If linkage and all, I think it's fine. When you try to put just the shifter into existing linkages is when you run into a problem I believe.
