I can think of a half dozen absolutely killer mountains within an hour drive from my place. So yeah, there are a lot of good trails around here. A lot more than FL, but you got us beat in the hotties department. There are some fine ladies living on America's wang. I may only have my hardtail, plus the daughter has a b'day party, but depending on the time, I can take you out and show you around. Just let me know and I'll try to arrange something for you. For a Fromme ride? On your second ride ever, after getting injured on your first ride? Be careful there. I'd hate to see you get in a situation where you could be hurt, and/or give up on biking. Did you do some research on your exhaust options? |

You know, that's a funny one loomin.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the bike that we know today was created by Chaz, but the funny thing is that there is no history from BC anywhere that one can find. While the guys in BC were ripping down Seymour, guys like Ritchey and Paul Brodie were starting their companies, and bringing mtn biking into the mainstream. But consider that companies such as Cove, Rocky Mountain, Norco, Kona, Race Face, and many others, were all started by the BC boys. IIRC, Cove really pushed the technology to a point where they were THE choice for hardcore riders back in the early days. Too bad they squandered their gift. They could be multi millionaires if they ran a proper business, not some night market booth bike shop... |

Hey guys, my first ride made me aware of how narrow my current handlebars are, so I am looking for a used bar on PinkBike.
What type of bar should I be looking for? I thought a bar was a bar, but browsing the classifieds made me realize there are a lot of differences. Any tips? |

It's all feel when it comes to bars.
Imho, I'd hit up your local bike shop and see what they have in stock, as bars aren't that pricey. Plus you can get a better feel when they're in your hand. Imho, go with a wider bar, as it can always be cut down. Some points about bars. The wider the bar, the slower, yet more controlled your steering could be. Choose between a riser bar, or a flat bar depending on how they feel to you. Plus there's different diameters depending on what stem you're using. I have a Hussefelt big riser on mine which feels great when going downhill, since I can fit further back on the frame. You can snag them online from the US for as low as $22usd. With prices like that, you don't need to buy used. www.pricepoint.com this is a nice bar. My bro rides one of these, 28" wide, coke white, and less than $30usd. Plus they ship via US Post. http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/163...-Handlebar.htm To measure your bar diameter, check out this. http://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-185054.html Last edited by steve; 06-04-2009 at 03:46 PM. |

I would definetaly go with a wider bar since it will be easier to steer .
Im rockin the gravity 30 " witch is a bit wide but your a bigger guy and wider in the shoulders and a wider bar will be more comfy . How wide is your bar ? Is it the oversised 31.8 mm or 25.4 ? |

Just to add to the above.
If it is the 25.4mm, spring for a new 31.8mm stem and bar combo. Huge difference in rigidity when I went to the larger diameter bar. |

I have a 29" roox torque bar layin around ,but it's a bit too flexy .
If you want you can check it out tomorrow ,but I would upgrade to 31.8 mm For stems the nicest is thomson not because I own one , but because they're the nicest . Forged aluminium and super stiff . |

yup.
that's the one that I roll. your main specs are Handlebar Clamp diameter: 31.8mm Steer Clamp Diameter: 1 1/8" Your steering tube is definately a 1 and 1/8". And the 31.8mm clamp size is what you want to upgrade to. |

Yeah I just wasn't sure of the 1 1/8" steering tube.
Now, should I go with 40mm or 60mm reach? |
