Default Tow Issue

Have a slight problem on my hands and wondering how exactly I need to go about this.

I'll keep it short.

Car died on me at the shore, I rode home with someone else, mailed the key to procom so they can tow to their shop but they received the letter today without the key in it. This was my only key.

I call the dealership with my vin today and they say I will need my registration and info to cut another key? Of course none of this can be done until parts/service opens back up monday....

Great!

any tips or help greatly appreciated

Wait until parts/service opens tomorrow.

Hope your car is still there.

Ha I know... it had the address on a piece of paper inside it too so I am def worried about that but at least they can't fire it up and drive it off.

I think parts opens on monday but I can't even get to the car at the shore to get the registration to get another key cut...

You can't disengage the park brake from the outside? I vote Lou @ procom go break in?

They can just drag it, brake and all, onto a flatbed.

Thats what I said, but I think its an open trailer not an actual tow truck so they need to roll it up?

Get a quote from a local tow company to pick up and drop off, or have a buddy share a AAA or similar tow with you

Only problem is I am not by the car so I would have to go down to the shore to meet them at the car anyway... right?

Gotta be careful with posting location. I think I will ups the fob to procom in hopes we can get in. Isn't there a way to release the brake from outside? 99 Rs

Call the place that's doing the towing. They know ways to get a car from here to there without the keys.

^It's lou from procom doing the towing. If I used AAA I would have to go to the car to show ID and even then I now don't have a key for the car... so I'm trying to get it to procom safe and sound so we can get everything straightened out.

He's got an open trailer not a flatbed iirc so we can't just pull it up. I think if I give him the fob, and he brings a wire hanger that's the way to go. For now I'll call the dealership tomorrow and see what they can do as far as making a key from my vin.

Good Luck with that man. Sounds like a lot of headache coordinating everything.

Someone with a door stop and a coat hanger can break into the old cars and release the e brake.

Bruce I've actually done it only once before in this car I think we may try it. Luckily there is a dealer by procom so I'll have to have a key made eventually but for now we just need to get it off the the jerz streetz before you know what can happen.

Fenk its just annoying that I have to do it all by proxy... she got me down there fine!

Does anyone know how much it costs to make a new key? I called soch but the guy was not service or parts and was a d*** about 'not having any idea.' There's no electronics on the 99 so I'm assuming fairly cheap, and the whole alarm was actually recalled cuz it's crappy.

SoCh says $14 to cut a new key since no immobilizer but I have to be there in person to prove ID. Not bad now how can I get over there... anyone in philly off today and want to help me get to cherry hill real quick?

Got the key yesterday! I was able to have someone help start making the key by vin with sending proof of insurance and photo of my id in an email. Had to present same items when I picked it up but big thank you soch for helping start the process bc I was only able to get over there after the parts/service was closed. There is a law you have to be present and proof of id to make the key in nj they tell me. What a headache.

Anyone wanna ride over to procom real quick? I'll buy you a hoagie!

If not it's about to overnight to procom and lou and mike will finally be able to pick it up and start the diag tomorrow. If it's still there!!

Lou has the key, will pick it up monday.

Sidenote, family was down at the house and the car is still there! Maybe I'll be the first non-stolen suby in NJ thread ever.

Though I probably just jinxed it right there...
