Because nasioc chooses to live in the stone age and require a host site for pics...then wonders why site activity is low.

Default Here is how you do it.

  1. http://www.imgur.com
  2. Upload your image
  3. Copy the "BBCode" link. Looks like this: [img]your image's new url[/img]
  4. Paste the code into your post

If you care enough, you can create an account with imgur. If you are serious about managing what site hosts your images online, then you already know all this.

It's CRAZY to use an image hosting site! What are we, some kind of dinosaur like Reddit?

can you provide an example of a forum that you think does a better job?

I'm always open to improving the site.

I love using forums to document my builds and discuss more technical topics and I have no problem hosting images remotely (I host them on my own site). But forum traffic seems to be considerably slower and less user friendly than the other mediums that are more focused on easy/immediate image hosting (ie. Facebook, Instagram, etc).

The mobile version of the site has never been very good and trying to use the desktop version from your phone to post a photo is very time consuming and difficult. A good mobile site or app (that allowed embedded image uploads/hosting) would help a lot, but seems like a large task.

the mobile site thing is a huge task and honestly, the mobile version of the site that we have now is probably as good as it can get.

I do agree with you that it most certainly could be better. The problem is that forum support for mobile is few and far between. The best app of the lot is tapatalk and that one is pretty terrible. So, we finally ended up on what we have now, which is a vBulletin mobile skin, which has been partially customized and licensed.

If we allowed attachments for everyone for free, it would be an absolutely massive drain on the server and hugely expensive.

Well there you have it. Nasioc will die a slow death. Alot of people only use their phones for interwebs usage. If theres no way to make it more user friendly at a reasonable cost then that's that.

I have to agree that NASIOC would benefit from a partner hosting site that makes image hosting & posting easier.

I'm thinking of a quick-upload button within VBulletin that uploads an image to imgur (or whomever), generates the BBCode necessary, and adds it to the post.
