Default What are beatup bugeye WRXs selling for these days?

I need a new ice race car, seems GC Outback Sports and RSs sell for way more than they should, so a bugeye WRX may make more sense. A bit dented and rusty, even salvage title is not a problem, high miles is OK as long as it isn't on its last breath.

So what kind of prices have people been seeing on the low end for WRXs?

Subaru Stars

2002 WRX silver, buying locally here in Anchorage AK, paying $8900 for it. Body is 8/10, interior 9/10, everything is stock. paying $600 cash also for vf-39 w/ 25k on it, k&n intake, 2011 sti injectors, walbro fuel pump, 04 sti cluster, jdm scoop, cobb ap, and 08 sti steering wheel (no airbag though, prolly skipping that upgrade for now.) 69,000 miles. pretty much impossible to find here in Alaska, hence a pretty hefty price tag compared to what you can get in the lower 48. super stoked to upgrade from my impreza! (btw. go bugeye. lets keep these cars fresh forever.)

Hey Paul,

I have a roller sedan I'd part with. In a very light front end hit, clean title with 90k. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

$8900 is stupid expensive.

Back in the spring, my son wanted a WRX so we went looking. Looked at a nesic member's 02 with 125ish miles in very good shape with minimal mods and nice wheels/tires. Asking $5500 and I passed mainly because I wasn't yet ready to buy anything. My son kept in touch with the seller who sold for $4500.

Why not a GD N/A car?

Yeah, that price is wrong on every level for me. I would prefer an NA GD but they seem to stay above $3k for cars that are 15+ years old with the meager 2.2l engine and often in really rough shape. Plus if I get a WRX then I have a donor for an 818 if I go that route next summer.

James, I'll keep your roller in mind. I have a friend whos about to trade in a MY03 wagon with 190k miles, trying to find out what she'd get for trade without all the shellgame nonsense the dealers pull. I also don't know how these cars fair at such high miles, I sold my bugeyes at 105k and 110k or so.

8900 is expensive, i know. Stupid expensive? no. Let me explain. Alaska has a high value market for Subarus. They depreciate slower here than almost anywhere else in the lower 48. If i was looking for a $5k wrx it would be Rallied to no end here. Go to NADA guides, 02 bugeye with 69,000 miles and see for yourself. High end should be right around 8900. Right now im actually seeing $9,150. Anyways id go into more detail but gotta get back to work at the dealership. -J

But prices in Alaska are sort of different than prices around Boston.

I sort of figured you asked Eurojax to come here and he asked Alacrity and he's a hipster, so what does he care...... You can stick around....but your pricing is whacked for this area. $9k will buy and AP1 S2k in decent shape all day long here (what I've been checking lately). What are those in AK? I gotta think more, having to drop them in from bush planes and all.

I just sold my 02 for around 5K. Would have fit your requirements near perfectly, except mine only had 112K on it.

I paid $4500 for a bone stock wagon with 83k on it, owned by an older guy with a beat up body from parking on the street in the city

Thanks bro, I appreciate you lettin me chime in my randomness... my info is not really useful for boston, I agree. An s2k is wildly overpriced and rare in Alaska... like by 5-6 grand! Itd be a better deal buying it down south and driving it up, guzzling all that gas.

I should mention my roller actually still has an engine / trans, etc, in it. Was planning to pull, but you never know.

I've got a 98 LGT with a EJ205 swap with 165k on the clock and I would value it at $3500 just for its uniqueness... though to swap it cost way more
