"OMG U CANT USE TORQUENEWZ!"

The data in the TorqueNews article is from CR: https://www.consumerreports.org/cars...p-a1854979198/

Are you guys brain damaged? The IQ on this forum has got to be below 50.

What do you do at Subaru? Are you the service guy who rips people off by telling them their air filter is bad, even though I just changed it 1,000 miles ago?

Repair costs are the #1 thing that's going to affect a consumer's bottom line. A replacement OEM display for the VB is between $1,400 and $2,500. r/WRX is full of posts with these POS's failing: https://parts.subaru.com/a/Subaru_20...11-860-02.html

Bottom line, these are cheap JDM econoboxes with mid-tier reliability and bottom of the barrel performance. I'm so sick of people glamming this car up like it's some kind of performance icon. That might have been true in the early STi days, but today the car is a badge-engineered, platform-sharing and underperforming pile of garbage, for over $40,000 if you want electric seats and halfway decent suspension. Oh, and the good dampers are locked behind a pathetic CVT. It's the ripoff/joke of the century and I'm not sure how or why you guys are turning a blind eye and accepting this crap.

The cost of a repair and the reliability of a particular car are not the same. TorqueNews used CR data that talked about a lower score that mostly related to the costs of "repairs and maintenance" and gave numbers. They, however(and I coulda missed it), didn't break down those costs to the repair side of it.

And, in classic TorqueNews fashion, while the article was talking about 10 year ownership, they decided to talk about recommended timing belt replacement. Would YOU like to refresh everyone's memory on when the last Subaru to have a timing belt was? Let's not count the "low" number(compared to how many other Subaru models are sold)STIs and WRXs(which it has been 9 model years anyway).

If your retailer is "ripping you off" by telling you something is bad that isn't, maybe you should be reporting them to someone? We do a video inspection that is sent straight to the customer that then approves or disapproves the work. We are not perfect and certainly get complaints; but, we aren't going to blatantly lie to you. That's simply not good business and would certainly lose that business.

Crosstrek and CH-R (well, now the Corolla Cross), yes, those are the comparison vehicles.

and yeah, if you live in a location where you feel AWD is necessary, then that Corolla Cross price jumps up to a minimum price of $29,000.

Rav4 vs Forester, and the Forester base price comes in more competitively than the Rav4, and the Rav4 has the same problem for AWD option, the base price jumps to $33,000 vs $27,000. that 180hp vs the 200hp for the Rav4 starts looking not too bad.
Not sure if things have changed, but when I bought my Fozy last year it was because Toyota would not sell me a rav4 hybrid the way I wanted it. You couldn’t order one, you had to pick from whatever Toyota was building. That meant paying for extra packages and accessories. Even though the MSRP was only about 2k difference, the rav4 hybrid xle with cold weather package was going to cost 6k more than a forester premium because of several thousand in packages and accessories. And the rav4 had no sunroof or dimming side mirrors. Subaru was willing to let me order the car I wanted and didn’t force me to pay for options that I didn’t want. That only added to the value to me.

Toyota's still like this. They fart around with their "allocation" BS and make it sound like you're ordering a brick of solid gold on wheels when buying from them. You can't order a Toyota unless you know someone at the dealership, and even then it's a crapshoot.

That's one of the pluses of Subaru, at least in my experience the buying process was great. I need to find a better service department though, since my selling dealership tried the ole "your air filters are dirty" trick with fake air filters kept behind the service counter. I'll never bring my car there again (was just in for a state inspection.)

Was that Grand Prix? I’ve seen them do that a zillion times. I didn’t know it was a planted filter haha.

that's very true.

Subaru has a really great logistics system in place.

Toyota has a horrible logistics system. antiquated by any measure.

it's like someone built their logistics program back in the mid 80s, and no one's bothered to really update it to take advantage of current technology.

the only time buying a Toyota would be easy is if the car you want is on the lot, or they have it in their allocation pool from Toyota.

Competition. I used to take my Crosstrek PHEV there after we moved. I've never seen them do that, but I'm sure it's possible.

Man I love Snow's Giulia, its looking clean as heck.

The ordering system on the Subaru side is pretty slick, Through the SOA portal, you can pick the car and trim and from there choose what will come with it, whether things are added at Port or by dealer. There's someone in town with a White Premium Wrx (SPT) that we had to make sure came with a CVT cooler (Standard on Ltd and up - Though I thought those would come standard in choosing the SPT). It was a simple bubble to press, and was all added up at the bottom with the invoice number and estimated shipping date.

What other stuff can you add at the port? Anything interesting or is it mainly Genuine Subaru accessories?

The SPT should come standard with a cooler. Actually kind of ridiculous that it doesn't.

Yes this is the way with Toyota. My Sienna came with a stupid camera that I’ve never bothered setting up. Added to the msrp which I never asked for.

Then why did you pay for it? Did you need a minivan that badly? Lol

Thanks man. She’s a looker for sure. Makes it hard to consider other options.

That’s a cool ordering system these days. Unless it’s an SDC/SNE thing, we used to only have allocation ordering. Once it existed, you could have it sent to your dealer. Not a real custom order.

Yes I did, specifically the Sienna. I wasn’t going to pass on it just because it had a DashCam I didn’t ask for…You can say that about anyone that owns a Toyota or anyone that’s picked a car off the lot that wasn’t to order. You walked away with a car that has something you didn’t specially ask for. Hence the reason why we’re talking about Toyota as that’s how they operate. Thankfully it wasn’t that expensive and the dealer didn’t add any bs charges like market adjustment or nitrogen for the wheels or any other bull crap. Most of this stuff is added by the distributor as port installs anyway.

I think it is limited to certain parts sold as accessories and what trim you're bubbling in. But what I found interesting was you had to specifically press in the bubble (Back in 2021) for that cooler on a lower trim. It made it seem like it wouldnt have it if you didn't.

It was pretty simple, you just bubble in the package option and then what extras you wanted included on the cars. And then you have your invoice with an estimated production and shipping timeline. Any desk manager can do this for you on whatever Model through the portal. Sometimes though.. port people are lazy and they just send it all to the dealer in boxes with the car.

The moonroof plus HK speakers were a cool plus, because I remember that being an option on the old 4th gen legacy Prem, I hope that never goes away.

Best handling car that I have ever owned (including a 2018 STI). I am on a 24 month lease, so over in March. I am really considering buying her out. I have equity as is. I just wish it was manual, I'd be set for life...
It's the steering... nothing can ever provide the feedback and natural connectedness to the car than one of these.

Also, for not having a manual, you have one of the best transmissions made to date in the car, and I believe the Veloce has flappy paddles if I'm not mistaken. Close enough?

Interesting that they chose to bring the TR badge back. The previous TR (stripped down to bare basics to hit a lower price point) seems like the complete opposite of what they're doing here (adding parts).

Now, if only they would remove the cladding....

All the bitchin and moanin(from multiple people) with each new generation adding weight making it slower than before(and adding all the content "no one" wants). Then we are potentially getting something that helps with the weight and the first comment is bitching about losing all that.

NASIOC.....

Interesting question.......Trying to cut weight, does the aero of the cladding trump the weight savings of removing it?!?!?
