When I took the Gunma tour in April, they said the aerospace side only accounts for, like, 2% of their business. I might be a bit off. I'm at the station today. I'll find the brochure they gave me. I think it was in there. Honda......if it combusts fuel, they make it. Help me to know what they don't make, if they don't. Sure, Subaru has lots of money still; but, isn't that the point of business? To make money? Not pander to a "low" volume customer that isn't substantially helping that end goal?

The comment of Honda/Toyota/VW selling every car. Well yeah. That's not much an issue when you make them low volume by design. Make them in the numbers Subaru has offered with the WRX line and perhaps they don't get to sell them above MSRP?

But, I'm also in the camp very disappointed in this company that can't seem to get their emissions under control? I was ready to get that STI,
They could have easily eaten the fines per car , they wouldn’t be first company to lose money on a car that has the halo effect. Now you have (2021 model year 20 calendar year to 2025) the beginning of a generation of car enthusiasts who won’t look at Subaru the same way so many have for 20+ years .

I bought my 2015 WRX when ordering first opened in 2014. I was able to negotiate it to $1000 under invoice and that's in New England which is definitely Subaru country. If I recall correctly many people were reporting similar pricing back then.

Name another car company that sells less than 1 million cars a year globally that sells a car at a loss.

off the top of my head, Lotus for sure wasn't making money on every model they sold here for the last 25 years

Mazda wasn't breaking 1M global until the early 2000s? They had Rx7's in the 90s, Mazdaspeed products in the early 2000s rx8 as well...they're like Subaru almost

Justy heard the H word and got triggered. And yes, depending on who you are they are doing insane discounting still. Blanket statements are dumb.

Lotus. Owned by Geely. Sells roughly 2.79 million cars. Mazda? Sold a million 25 years ago. How many did Subaru sell? WELL less. Less than 200K in the U.S. I'll agree "like" Subaru; but, you're saying they took losses on the Rx models?

H word? Heuberger? I love Heuberger. Sent my Aunt there to get her last Forester(well under holdback and several accessories at no charge). Not sure where you're trying to go with that. Now, I haven't checked recently(it was sometime last year); but, they certainly aren't doing quite the same. Went from selling nearly DOUBLE the #2 selling retailer to, as of this post, tied for 8th with Little Rock, AR. Which, I know for a fact(they are in our district), don't sell anywhere near what Heuberger was selling them at when they sold 6000 a year(really only crossed that number once IIRC). What "blanket" statement are you referring to?

100% they lost money on every single RX model since the FD. Pre geely ownership , esp in the 90s and early 2k lotus was eating it on almost every car

Maybe it will have a monkey in the trunk to help counter-balance the weight distribution in cornering.

Or better yet, an H6.... front 4 cyls do the power generation to a single turbo, the back 2 do charging of the hybrid (through another turbine).

I volunteer as tribute!

I'm too nomadic to consider owning more than one vehicle, so I think I'll have to resign to owning a 5-door as well. However, an AWD manual transmission performance coupe will always have a place in my heart.

Might have to look at used Audi TT RS...
