Default Wheel fitment for 2018 STi

Now that the 18 STi's are rolling in, and with the increase in caliper size, do we know what size wheels will fit? I've been scouring the internet for days and cannot find an answer to that question. Living in New England, summer tires as OE just won't cut it for when I get the car. I'm left with trying to find a set of 19" tires to replace the Yoko's or a winter wheel setup. Appreciate the advice.

I'm very concerned about this. I am supposed to get the car in August. That leaves me with 2-3 months to find a solution. I've even asked my friend at Konig, but he doesn't seem to have an answer for me and of course the dealership wasn't any help either. There doesn't even seem to be a good selection of tires that fit the OE rim. I'm probably gonna find an all season tire and just sell the stock tires to offset the cost.

Our Wicked Awesome wheels (18x9.5" +42) have a lot of brake clearance, and they fit every 6-pot aftermarket system we've tried, including Stoptech and the Brembo Trophy kit. My guess is the Subaru brakes will fit.

Did a quick search on Subaru Canada's website and it shows the base model sporting the same 18" base rims that they've had on from 2015 and up. That should tell you what you need to know.

The 6 pots are the same thickness as the 4 pots. Therefore, if the wheels fit the 4 pots, they'll fit the 6 pots.

The only thing to be concerned about is wheel diameter. 19s and 18s will fit. I can't confirm 17s though.

That's good information to know. I would much rather 17's and a bigger sidewall for a winter set up, especially with our crappy roads in the north east. I can settle for 18's if I really have to. 19's scare me for winter roads plus they are just too expensive for the winter abuse.

Subaru STI R205 used 6 & 4 pot brakes with the standard 18x8.5 wheels they were sold with in Japan. Same size and offset as the wheels we get here in the US.

https://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/07/...n-still-not-c/

The overall rotor diameter and thickness is slightly larger than the 4 pot rotors, but the calipers themselves are the same thickness. Check the link for pictures.

Im sorry but I am still not seeing where it says about the 6 pot being the same width as the 4. I know on my last car Chevy SS when going from the 4 to 6 pot calipers that it would be very very close to the wheel and most had to run a small spacer. The Diameter was ok but it was caliper to the back side of the spoke making contact. It sucks to buy wheels from a private seller that do not fit so just trying to make sure.

The 18x8.5 wheels in the pictures above clear the 4 pot calipers by all of 5mm. As you can see in the pictures, they also clear the 6 pot calipers by about the same amount, roughly 5mm.

That being said, if you put your thinking cap on, you can pretty easily deduce that the 4 and 6 pot calipers are the same thickness, seeing how the same OEM wheel fits over both of them with the same amount of clearance from the spokes.

I have not seen those wheels on a STI with 4 pots. Im not one who knows every subaru wheel though so I was getting my info from this thread.

https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho...1#post35072501

I know the diameter and offset are good so even if I have to add a small spacer I guess its no big deal. I will most likely buy them tomorrow and report back once I mount them.

Thinking about trying a set of BBS 17" for my 2018, seller said they fit his 2017. Don't really want to drop the money just to do a fitment test.

17's would be really close. You might want to stick with 18's at least.

That's what I was thinking, really good deal on them 500, no curbing of bending. Just need to be painted. I guess I'll continue my hunt.

Default Wheel fitment for 2018 STi

With 13.4 inch rotors, I can't imagine that 17" wheels (except maybe Braids?) will fit the 2018+ STI brakes. Best to at least stick with 18s.

I can confirm that a 17" barrel will clear the 2018 STI brakes, barely.
For example, the Mach V Awesome wheels, 17x9 +42, DO indeed fit, though the wheel weights would need to be carefully placed as the caliper would scrape them off.

I have seen this from member tylerlieberman at iwsti. This sparco wheel fits but no more details on the wheels specs. Looks like the 17" that fit are going to be a very tight fit and probably won't be a lot of them that fit.

Wow I had no idea that wheel barrels of those 17" wheels would fit!

Will 18x8 fit the calipers? Or do I have to stick with 8.5"? I'm looking for narrow snow rims.
