Exclamation Remote Starter Recall

Noticed this at Cars101.com and am simply passing it on for those that have remote starters.

2/22 recall- remote engine start transmitters. The transmitters on 2010-2012 Outback and 2012-2013 Impreza and Crosstrek might have a loose internal battery clip that when dropped sends a signal to start the car. If this happens the engine can run for 15 minutes, turn off, and restart. This cycle could repeat until the car is out of gas and in a garage this could lead to dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. The transmitters will be replaced. Recall #WQF-42

I have not yet contacted my dealer; however, will in the upcoming week.

I wonder if I'll get a notice since mine was installed by the dealer pre-delivery???

Thanks for the info. I'll check into it as well. At least it is just the fob and not the pieces iinstalled in the car. No doubt they will need to program the new remotes. Cold winter mornings are made a bit more tolerable having the remote start. No regrets here.

Mine was port installed, but I don't have a garage so I'll probably just wait until I need to go in for something else

You may want to call your dealership ahead of the appointment to insure that they have a sufficient number of replacement units on hand. If they have the unit on hand, they can mark/save it for you, thus saving you another trip if it is not on hand when you come in.

Has anyone had this recall addressed? I've only seen info on it at cars101.com.

So far not yet. I was at the dealer last week getting my drivers door mirror replaced after a state truck slung a ball of ice at it one morning. I asked about the recall campaign but they had no information yet.
