Default How to keep my sub from moving??

Hey,
I have my sub box sitting in my trunk now pushed up against the rear seat behind the pass-through. It's a sealed single 10" box so it's not that big and doesn't come close to touching the wheel wells. And let me tell you, it really likes to move around when I take turns and takes the carpet with it. I was wondering if anyone has any tricks I can do to make my sub stay put.

Thanks in advance.
Todd

This is kinda like a "crutch" than a sollution but it works. Take two backstraps and bend them at an angle so you can screw them to the top of the sub box and then screw the other end to the top metal part at the ack of the trunk where the seat is. That will definatley stop the box from moving around.

I'd just get small (6") peices of 1x2 and cover them with color matching carpet then screw into bottom deck (make sure screws aren't too long)

Or bolt it to the passthrough so it fires into the cabin

Concillian,
looks nice but can you post a pic of the back of the box so I can see how you bolted it in?

Thanks,
Todd

Don't have one right now, but I made the box to fit there, I don't know that you can simply bolt a box in there.

I'll try to take pics with my roommates digicam again. When I took that pic, I was taking pics of another mod and the batteries died as I was getting to the trunk pics.

If you remove the back seat you will see there are two vertical sqare steel tubes extending from the bottom to a flat steel piece welded onto a large crossmember at the top of the rear seat. You can see these top bolts from the trunk, there are two that hold the member on.

I took out the bottom of these, then put a smaller bolt (1/4-20) through the hole and welded on nut. Then used a Tee-nut (the kind that dig into the wood) on extension pieces that were glued to the front of my box, which also spaces it out. I had to drill two holes in these crossmembers for the holes at the bottom.

Exercising my mad ascii drawing skillz, the box looks remotely like this:

Difficult to explain without seeing the box outside the car.
Anyway, I'll try to take some pictures inside the trunk.

Talking Velcro

I'd definitly agree with Sobelizard109. Take out the carpet and put some industrial strenght velcro on the board inbetween the carpet and that board. Then stick some underneath your box and viola. It takes the hardest of driving and no movement without drilling holes or anything. I'm trying to figure out some solutions for the ratteling, it's unbearable. I have a JL 12W3 and 250/1 amp and rattles the crap out of my trunk. I'm going to do some searchs but if anyone could refresh me on that it would be appreciated.

Industrial strength velco? Seriously. Home Depot or other big hardware store.

I have a little simpler solution....dont have a WRX yet, but worked GREAT in my Acura to hold my 10..although it got stolen on Monday

I got this rubbery roll of stuff that I used...I took out the carpet in the back and rolled out one layer, then put the carpet back in (this is to hold the carpet from sliding), then I took a piece and laid it out under the sub. Held everything pretty well...in about 4 months my carpet only slid over about a 1/4 inch...

Although, I don't drive my car that hard in corners, but probably harder than most...if you expect it to stay put with autox style driving or drifting, i can guarantee you it won't, but for day to day it works and the rubber stuff is super cheap (also comes in a lot of different colors).

Go to SavOn, or even Home Depot...Savon sells the stuff as place mats, Home Depot sells it as stuff you lay under a rug to keep it from sliding around...
