Default ECU neutral switch wire is triggering my alarm

my alarm keeps going off for no reason, the code each time is the hood pin- which runs to the ECU wire.

any ideas? I'm thinking it's possibly a bad diode, when I check continuity one direction I get nothing, then gong the right direction I get kind of a broken connection, not sure if this is normal or not. Maybe I need a bigger diode

sup,

couple of things to check:

1) check your hoodpin is it rusted or maybe it's not working properly when the hood is closed, try disconnecting your hoodpin temporarily and see if the ecu is triggering your alarm

2) check your neutral wire connection to be sure it's not touching ground

3) are you leaving your vehicle in gear when you arm the alarm?

No hoodpin, too lazy

Yes, it's in gear sometimes when I arm it, I can't leave it in N all the time. When I arm the alarm it should bypass that input if it's grounded, it should only go off if the situation changes right? so maybe that points to a bum diode?

no way for it to be grounding elsewhere. I checked again tonight to be sure

maybe I'll just ground it to the chassis for testing to see what's up

ground the hood pin cable? then your remote start won't work.
try replacing your diode and see if the diode is the culprit.

it won't work but it will tell me if it's a problem with the diode/ecu or with the alarm brain, if it keeps going off that way.
