![]() So I have read through several threads on here and have over a dozen answers to things that could be and might not be a issue. So here’s my issue. A month ago my fuel pump gave up. I replaced it and when driving my car home it wouldn’t rev past 4600 rpm and wouldn’t boost past 8 psi. Now I changed over to a higher pressure pump cause I thought that was the issue. Now the car will start and run rough then straighten up and idle fine but when I rev up it hits 4700 and that’s it then it idles fine. But if I turn it off it won’t turn back on but after it sits a while it’ll start up again. I’m at a loss and I want to make sure before I tear into it and start dropping money that I see if anyone else had this issue.
Thank you. I’ve worked on cars just not boosted cars 2002 wrx ej20 stock turbo. Full cat less exhaust. Stock header, aftermarket up pipe and full 3 inch exhaust turbo back. No cel, no warning lights, no accessport was ever married to it. Please help it’s my daily and the wife is already tired of me driving her car for work

![]() Fuel filter under the hood or the sock on the fire pump may be clogged up.

![]() Replace fuel filter yes, but he already stated he replaced fuel pump... Check fuel pressure. Also you you have a way to check diagnostics? May have knocked to many times and knocked your IAM down very low, not sure if you reset the ECU

![]() He coulda reused the old sock. There's also a ball check valve that could be faulty too, but highly unlikely with a new pump. Just starting with the cheap and easy things first.

![]() Check to make sure you are getting the proper fuel pressure and double check all your vacuums

![]() New fuel filter has been installed and still same issue. Fuel pressure gauge reads around 45 psi then after won’t read again. When the fuel pump was replaced it had the new screen with it installed

![]() No the pressure drops off. But I’m honestly thinking that is my gauge. It’s been finicky since I got the car. I did notice a box under my dash and I can’t remember what all it said on it but I do remember it said fuel something. Has anyone else seen this box before? I can’t look at it till I get back over to my buddies garage on my day off. I am gonna replace the pump relay and I’ve done all the steps on resetting the ecu besides the driving cause of the part where it won’t go over the 46-4700 rpm. I’m tempted to fully unplug the ecu and check it’s connections and check all my connections on the car and clean off all the grounds to be safe. I’m at a loss. Simple fuel pump goes into a giant headache

![]() 02 won't care about the catless dp and up. Play on. But indeed, get a "real" fuel pressure gauge, hook it up and read it when it's running right and when it's not.

![]() So the box said electronic fuel pressure. It had a wire broke off and now I have constant fuel pressure to my gauge and the car starts up fine and runs fine but still won’t go over 4700 rpm.

![]() Cel isn’t on. Tried to pull codes and nothing came up. I’m going to try disconnecting the battery over my shutdown and seeing if something happens.
