This stuff is just common knowledge now...but I've know this since the 80's when I did my "research" LOL.

And everyone knows that the ZL1's made 600 horsepower with headers and tune for the headers.

The ZL1 corvette could run high 11's in the 1/4 mile and do 0-60 in the high 3's. That's a fact.

Personally I'd rather have the LS6 Chevelle 1970, or a GSX stage 2 buick. But I digress.
And there are modified Civics making over 900 HP/L and running 7s in the 1/4 mile on turbocharged 2.0L 4 cylinder engines..

But this thread is about a stock, mass production car.. not modified, one-off cars.

Keep in mind that cars from the 60s would never meet the safety, emissions & fuel economy regulations that cars today are challenged with. The ZL1 & L88 had minimal safety or emissions equipment and required 103 RON.. try running those engines on ACN 91

And that's ignoring the whole handling aspect..

Well ya...true about the civics or any other mega modified modern import running sub 9 second 1/4 miles in 2020, but they have greyhound bus sized turbos on them..with nitrous etc etc..they didnt come from the assembley line like that so your missing the point somewhat.

The 69' Corvette ZL1's and the 69' Copo Camaro's were factory assembled(they built 69 of the camaro's ..I said 50 before but I was just going by memory because the 50 was the homologation number to get GM to go aheady with production), with the 500++ horsepower all alumimum 427...it was a factory engine..(the next generation of the L88 427 cast iron 430 horse that come out in 1966)....in 1969...that put those cars in the 11's in the 1/4 and 0-60 in 4 flat and under. 50+ years ago. LOL. These were production cars for the street sold through dealerships assembled at the GM factory, so the handeling and braking were heavy duty but obviously not what like we have today with 50 years of suspension and chassis technology. The suspensions of the corvette and camaro could be modified back then and they could pull over 1G on the skidpad…...the 60's were also the origins of SCCA racing and Can Am racing and all those suspension parts were available through dealer performance catalogs if one wanted to improve the handeling. Still wouldnt be like what we have available today though. But still stout.

Back with that free advice. . . Buick never made a GSX Stage II.

I have been into 60's muscle cars since the 80's and specifically focus on 68-70...Buick absolutely had a stage 1 and stage 2 GSX. The latter being dealer installed upgrades to the stage 1 cars. You are correct that a "stage 2" package GSX didnt get built on the assembly line but buick offered the parts to dealerships to upgrade the stage 1 factory built GSX's(which were hemi killers as they were with 510 ft lbs of torque available @ 3000 RPM, 2800 RPM rated actually), and a buyer could have them installed as dealer optioned parts. Pushing the horsepower to over 500...from the factory. "advertised" 360 455 stage 1

The term you're searching for is "technology"

Nowhere did I say that I don't appreciate the Cobra.

Fun fact, the Cobra is currently produced and the Viper has existed since the early 90's.

720S > all of that

Note, "cars I listed" are actually a hand full of new SUV's.
Boy I opened can worms..someone mention 720..

720 is nice and incredible performer all around, but honestly that just highlights how evolved American muscle cars have become relative to cars costing 3x as much....9.7 vs 10.2, the hellcat sedan is a beast and can go anywhere. If I were going to own an exotic it would be an Fxx K or la Ferrari....weird as it sounds McCalarens are too common now....I see them everywhere in the boston area. An Fxx K or La Ferrari would be the ultimate imho.

but for what its worth, I've seen 60's muscle cars with modded original drive trains and less horsepower run those E.T's Original muscle cars are just timeless.

That 720 sounds sooooo amazing ...just incredible

Edit: I'd have to rock an Koeneggsigg Agerra first though....so raw!....and when it can pass a 918 Porsche @ full acceleration look and make it look like it's standing still that tells you something about how fast these are....my FAVORITE super car is the Agera R..hands down.

Let me know how well your comment holds up when the track or road has turns.

The Agera R and, Regera and Jesko... I would do unforgivable things to have anyone one of those.
