Default Are the WRX and STI clutches interchangeable?

The clutch in my 2009 WRX is still functioning (not slipping), however it does not feel very smooth, so I am thinking about replacing it (besides it is the original clutch - 10 yrs old). Can I replace it with a STI clutch?

Why not buy a Southbend clutch made for your vehicle's transmission? Don't skimp on parts.

Can you? You can steer your car with your feet if you wish, but is that wise? The real question is why are you considering doing something you know is wrong? You do clutches one of two ways:

1. Read https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?p=9878792 twice slowly near a fire wearing a snuggie. Then buy the APPROPRIATE clutch for your car/transmission/torque regardless of whose name is on the package and what the cost is. You sort out which flywheel option is best for you (read have your old one resurfaced). Then you have your path layed out like so many rose pedals like in the movie Coming to America.
2. You do any other option than item 1 above which is akin to running through a field full of rakes.

Right now you are on a dead run through a field full of rakes. I recommend you read Item 1 with a cup of General Foods' International Coffees (Cafe Vienna) and repent.

The quick answer is no, an STI clutch won't fit a 5 speed bellhousing or flywheel.

The long answer is read the link above ^

Either will fit either, the question is does OP want to grind down his bellhousing to get the 6MT to fit......likely not.
