Default New 2020 WRX questions (egr, bpv, etc)

Hey all!

New to the forums and the wrx world. I just got my hands on a 2020 wrx premium and wanted to start adding a couple of smaller things.

So far anything Iíve done has been purely cosmetic aside from the shifter bushing and shifter stop plate.

I have been doing a ton of research Over the past week or two and think Iíve landed in starting with a boomba BPV as well as an EGR delete.

I know the EGR delete will require a tune so Iíll probably pick up an access port as well. Iím not looking to go max HP here, just want to add a little more to it and also protect it. Iíve read the egr delete is a good start.

My questions are, does a new BPV and EGR delete raise any concerns to anyone? And is there a base tune from the Cobb AP that will be good for this setup? Iím not looking to tune it up to something crazy, just something primarily to remove the CEL so just the EGR delete. Will I need some other things? So is there a mapping that will clear that setup and be able to run stage 1? Or something like that.

No. The bpv will do nothing but to provide sound, and there is no base tune for them. Go tgv/egr delete and get an eTune. No need to go with the expensive etuners either.

Awesome, thank you for the info! So the cobb AP will have what I would need for an EGR delete then? Not doing the TGV delete just yet but eventually will.

From what I understand, COBB does not have an off the shelf map for egr/tgv deletes. You would need a custom tune or e-tune from a tuner.

With that being said, this FAQ guide from Phatbotti Tuning should help you and answer some more questions you may have.

Cheers, and goodluck!

After reading some info on PERRIN and Boomba BPV/BOV on the newer WRX models ,there seems to be an issue with OEM bpv leaking ?I'm looking for some more info on this issue .
Do the newer cars benefit from a non plastic leaky valve?
