Are you going to say you never hit those mid/high, not peak, RPMs on public roads in right hand turns at or near the limit of grip occasionally? I agree tracking is stressful. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something. I'm saying that it's QUITE possible to hit those Gs and RPMs in fairly benign, empty, flowing right turns, when certain conditions exist, on public roads.

Should you do it all the time? I never said you should - and you're ignorant for even implying it, i.e. fast and furious lifestyle. But, I'll give you a pass on it, because "chess with a pigeon" was a great comment.

Why don’t the other manufacturers have this issue if it’s “not a big deal?” It is 100% an issue that Subaru is too lazy to address. I wouldn’t touch one of these cars with a 39’6” pole. Subaru is becoming the next 1980s Chrysler with how awful their powertrain QC is.

But why? Apparently it's selling really well as-is. No need to mess with something that apparently isn't broke. BRZ/GR86 sales are slumping. They need a pick-me-up.

I think you're joking; but, the BRZ is currently sitting at a YTD that is higher than 3 of the last 5 years FULL YTD. Keeping that pace and it will surpass both the others. Easily.



My personal opinion.......the death of the STI has freed up a bunch of development money? Hoping they use that for the BRZ and WRX and don't move it over to EV/Hybrids......bringing us updates(hopefully meaningful) more often.

I had just read an article that said the GR86 was down on sales, assumed the BRZ was too, but maybe not. Maybe they're shifting production to be more even between the two brands.

It may have something to do with the fact that they produces way more automatic GRs than manuals. Currently the manuals are in high demand, but they're still marking them up, so I'm guessing the autos aren't selling well.

BRZs on the other hand, are very easy to get at MSRP, and you can order them in your desired options, whereas the GR is more of a reservation for whichever came to the dealership. You can be waiting a long time for your desired spec to come in.

I've had mine for a year now, and I really like it. It wasn't as initially exciting to drive as my FiST was. But after taking it for some canyon runs, I finally understood it, and fell in love. Pretty damn practical too, for how small it is. I've fit everything from 6ft surfboards to fishing poles to multi-day backpacks in the back. No issues so far. Next is a stealth tow hitch so I can lug my mountain bike around on a rack.

Maybe it's what's been said about getting what you want versus having to deal with what's available and people move over to Subaru for that.

Anything like this is planned so far in advance. My guess is they reflected on the first gen and figured by end of 2023 the momentum would be slowing enough to where introducing the performance pack would make sense. Keep the interest high, don't let it drop. I don't think they expected it to go quite how it has (lots of momentum.)

And I don't think even autos sit yet. To Toyo/Sub's credit, I definitely see a lot of manuals out there nowadays. (Not for sale! In pipeline. Only badly marked up cars sit at all.) A quick scan of some of the forums I haunted for a year while I was trying to get one and I see there are still plenty of markups and people waiting hopelessly. Prospects for people who are willing to go looking seem pretty good though.

And definitely go for the stealth hitch. I wish I went that way.

2024 BRZ tS

Has the brakes and Sachs suspension supposedly, along with the badges. Same wheels and no wing. Don't know about the interior.

Apparently the seats have blue accents/stitching. I'm not super familiar with BRZs so I didn't notice the difference.
