We were all set to get the Active, the crossover version of the Focus (which they had in the dealership here). Then the Trump tariffs in 2019 killed it, or Ford used that as an excuse.

The ST proves that if Subaru threw a Turbo into the Impreza hatch (2018 impreza Wagon sport was my jam in terms of looks) and called it an RS, MOST of us would be happy.

Did Subaru ever sell a turbo in a car with a RS moniker? The RS here just had a 2.5 in it. I wonder if Subaru did that now, like the Crosstrek, would it spark some extra sales of it? I thought the Sport shoulda had it years ago.

I learned stick in an old RS. I think it would, correctly priced, starting in the 20 thousands, hella young people would buy it just like they did in the early 2000s. But.... I think for now Subaru will just work on their hybrid, pos EV sti.

Yes. The Legacy RS was the sportier cheaper turbo variant with less bells and whistles and was the trim for homologation into WRC with road going specials offered.

The turbo Civic Si has been a huge success, I loved mine cause it’s enough power to have fun and light and cheap enough that most can afford it. With 200 hp it’s not going to beat EVs and minivans at stoplights, but I think a lot of people have stopped caring about that.

Subaru should make a hatch or sedan to compete with the Si. When I got mine it was $24k with LEDs, sport seats, upgraded stereo. The equivalent WRX was like $35k. That’s a whole different price range. And just throwing the 2.5 in an Impreza isn’t enough, you need a sport suspension, sport seats, nice wheels, 6mT etc.

Yeah, I think it was sold as the Subaru Legacy Sport in the US. Had the eJ22t.

Thats what im saying, a new iteration of the Impreza RS would fly off the lots, especially if it was a direct competitor to the SI.
