I doubt it will lose much of weight if any. If they can keep it the same just slap the 2.0 turbo in there making 220hp. That would make it pretty damn fun and likely draw in more buyers since it***8217;s already turbo making it an easier platform to build power on if the buyer wishes.

Just make it FI from the factory and let the aftermarket take over for those who want a few more ponies.

All the more reason for Toyota to throw a manual transmission option in the Supra. A lot of BRZ/FRS owners would probably upgrade, especially those who've received pay raises in the last few years and are looking to upgrade the stable.

I test drove a brz then a miata and got back into the Boss.

I wanted a miata, the brz was terrible.

Give it something noteworthy and it would be great. It was just forgettable and bland.

I guess it depends on if they must stay with their formula or not. I would think that they've been polling owners if they care about the MPG or not. Depending on that finding, would they be willing to put something in there that doesn't get the MPG the current one does. That article quotes as saying it's been a success; so...... It is still holding a pretty even line in sales. In 7 model years, the decline has been a bunny slope. Just some small decreases each year.

MPG in a car with a turbo and small motor is easy and better than a NA car imho. I can easily get 21-22 in town in my Evo and 26 on the highway despite the limitations of the gearbox (desperately needs a 6th gear). If I drive it hard it hovers around 12. All about staying out of the turbo unless it is time to get on it

The Miata has some special sauce in the driving experience. It will be hard for another car to match it but it can be done.

They may drop the current engine because it can't meet future emissions standards, and isn't worth the cost of redesigning given the projected sales. So a corporate sibling ends up in there with minor changes.

It's called weighing 2300lbs and change and having a very linear power delivery with max torque below 4K rpm. On paper I think people expect the Miata to be slow because they look at the specs, but it's actually a quick little car.

I just wish the Miata didn***8217;t have the wheel gap of an SUV. It looks awful in stock form.

I agree completely. I test drove a BRZ Limited a few times hoping to buy as a miniature version of my STI. My buddies also let me drive their BRZ's pretty hard a couple times saying how great it was, but meh.. it's too frikken slow and yeah handling is better than most but nothing spectacular or memorable. I think a Honda Fit with light mods is faster going down hill in the touge. I mean the BRZ has no power to win anything going up hill or in straight line, so the only place for it is downhill.

First they need to add 150hp/lb-ft and then see how well the platform handles. Slow cars are easy to make them handle well.

Where are you experiencing touge in the Midwest? What is this talk about “winning” up hill or down hill in the Midwest? Put down the initial D, Takumi.

^^ Hahaha, funny guy. You're absolutely right, no place for a BRZ in the midwest to make any sense, thus I do not own one or care to. However, I do travel a lot and know the LA area very well (Malibu area with canyons) where there are many winding roads including some tight roads similar to a touge. Not to forget the tail of the dragon.

I would not be surprised if a Honda Fit with light mods could keep up with the BRZ on the winding roads going down hill.

The car doesn’t need 350hp. Give it a 2.0lt turbo making between 220-250hp max and call it good. If you must have 330+ hp, go buy the new Supra.

Yeah, I guess they do need to keep that power gap for the Supra and 86 to co-exist.. however the next BRZ might have an opportunity for more power..(?)

This **** isnt an economy car. When you can get just about everything with 300 hp why not the only 2 door light weight rwd sports coupe.

It doesn't need horsepower, it needs torque and a flat torque band. Give it 200 ftlbs and somewhere from 200-250hp and it will be amazing.
