![]() This thread is just asking the question of what power gain options are out there for the FB20 engine. I have seen an AVO turbo kit on another thread, wondering if there are supercharger options too. Any info, ideas or products that you can think of please list them here.

![]() The FB blocks can handle timing very well. You could always get tuned for 91 or 93 and other attributes to squeeze out power that is present and hindered by the factory tune.
The AVO and other kits are great dollar for HP options as well but like all of Subaru's people mover engines they didnt leave a lot for gains except the FA20 non DIT like in the BRZ. That is one N/A H4 platform that is a blast to tune and play with. |

Do you know of any superchargers that may work with the fb? I looked up this raptor supercharger. But not sure if I read the spec right but I think it only works with the fa20 |

![]() yeah the two newer h4 N/A engines are on opposite ends of the spectrum the FB is people mover the FA when merely tuned is actaully a beast 180hp to the wheels for a 2700lb car feels a lot faster than it reads

Agreed I guess a swap is in need. I'm an all motor kind of guy. One of the reason I didn't buy an Sti. Plus I got my 07 subby with 84k on it for 6 grand & it's cheaper to insurer. But the power isn't cutting unless I build the motor. Go from 10-1 compression to maybe 12-1 & pay for a custom side supercharger maybe get 300hp. Looks like I'm in it for the long hall |

![]() Only thing I've seen in terms of gains is a tune. Not much horse power, but the torque comes on a lot lower which is nice.

![]() I've been pondering the possibility of an FB25 in the Impreza. I'm sure CAN-BUS makes everything impossible, but you used to be able to run an EJ25D off an EJ22E ECU and vice-versa if you kept the corresponding heads & intake manifold. I wonder what swapping just the short block would do, if it were even possible. It certainly seems like the FB25 is perfectly capable of achieving great gas mileage while making a significant amount more torque & some additional HP as well.

![]() Has anyone done the pulley swap, do you require a tune afterwards? I saw a pulley set for the FA20 and wonder if these would work on the FB? Would like to put in the crank, water pump and alternator pulleys if possible.

An 22E for a 25D? I was thinking that. Didn't think it could use the same ECU. Is it worth the swap? What about a 251 or 252? I know the diffence would be like 20 hp |

![]() Thank you kind sir!
Boxer1687 - I believe you can reuse the ECU if you're sticking with the D/E series engines and keeping the heads/intake manifold that were matched with the ECU. Plenty of people have done the swap and it sounds fairly simple on paper. You likely would need a tune for it to run really well, though. EJ251/3 probably wouldn't be as easy or doable with big differences like the MAP sensor instead of MAF - I do like the torque curve on the EJ251 that I had in my Forester though. Thank you much. I think if my EJ22E finally runs out of life; going into an easy EJ25D. I plan to do it myself with a friend see how that would work out. I would like to go turbo but my financial budget is limited. Thanks |

![]() There plenty of hybrid builds for the EJ22E/25D with both shortblocks out there.
Here's some more info: http://sl-i.net/FORUM/showthread.php...-EJ25D-EJ22E-T |

![]() Has anyone installed or used the Cobb Accessport for the FB20 engine? Any impressions with this flash tuning device? I would love to have a simple tuning solution.

![]() AFAIK, the AP doesn't support any FB series engines. Actually, I don't know if they ever tuned it for any Subaru that was non-turbo.
Looking on the Cobb website shows AP V3 as being EJ257 and FA20DIT compatible and that's it.] For tuning, throttlehappy seems to be the guy to talk to - he does tuning maps for FB series motors and has a rabid following on the Crosstrek forums. |

![]() I've personally asked Cobb about Access Port availability for FB20 Imprezas and Treks, and they said they have no plans to support NA cars.
But I always thought they had support for the 86 twins. Maybe I'm wrong. |

![]() They never supported the twins. NA power is a waste of time for them.
I think the best way to boost power for the FB2X might be to add an electric FI system like the Phantom Supercharger. There are some great results on the twins, miata, and various trucks. |
