Bad Idle After Replacing TGV Driver Side
New here, appreciate all help!
Just replaced my driver side Tumble Generator Valve (TGV) as well as the actuator and sensor. I removed my top mount intercooler, air intake, and my intake manifold to do this as well as my fuel injector and fuel rail. After everything was put back in these were the results. -Car leaked gasoline from the injectors due to faulty o-ring seals ^^Replaced that Car Idles like complete CRAP. Idles at 1000RPM and shakes Rough. Car never idled nowhere near this bad before the installation and I am throwing misfire codes as well P1086 TGV Circuit Low Input Checked almost everything has far as vacuum leaks or lose hoses, 12 hours into this nightmare im thinking about breaking in and bringing it to a dealer Any ideas? ILL LOVE YOU FOREVER

Also the car sometimes stalls when I start it if I don't give it some gas.

Did you put the TGV position sensor on correctly? You need to preload the spring inside.

I just did this on a Saabaru last night. The sensor needs to be preloaded as quazimoto said. To preload the spring you need to attach the sensor to the peg on the end of the TGV axle WITH THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FACING UP then rotate a little greater than 90 degrees clockwise untill its in its position to be bolted down. Then screw it down and plug it back in. It seems like if that sensor isn't working, the TGVs stay closed all the time. If the TGVs stay closed all the time that bank doesn't get any air or fuel. Since your primary O2 is on the other bank, it never makes any AFR corrections based on it as it doesn't realize this. If you take this to its natural conclusion you get tons of #2 and #4 misfires, can't build full boost. Car feels slow, sounds funny, won't idle, etc. |

Ok so, I put the connector facing up as I'm winding the spring on the sensors it stops before I bolt it in, the tab on the tgv doesn't turn a full 90 degrees

It did on the EJ205 I was working on last night.
I had to remove a bolt at about 5 o'clock relative to the TGV axle to get a full 90 degree turn out of it. |
