GR door frame rust starting... is there a recommended fix?
This seems like a common spot for GR's to start to rust. There are a couple layers of metal here, and moisture must get between the panels. Anyone repair this area yet? Comments?

Yeh the black section around the doors is all vinyl tape, that rust is right at seam from the under side where the inner/couter skin are bonded. You should pull your inner trim off and check from the back thats where it starts

Oh thanks... I didn't know that. I thought it was aluminum wrapped tightly around or something.
Where did you pick up the vinyl tape? Looks like that should be easier to repair if the underlying metal can be treated and made smooth. edit: Looks like it's called a sash. http://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru__/T...0422FG121.html Last edited by wobbletop; 08-04-2017 at 02:49 PM. |
