So did another oil change today plus. Royal purple oil k&n filter drained and filled rear diff with royal purple also. So now engine, trans, and rear diff all royal purple. And had him put in my group N trans trans mount and short shifter. But turns out it already had one in it. But looks like it was the short shifter for the impreza. I bought a wrx shirt shifter so it is like a hair shorter he said. He said maybe like 5mm shorter but it does feel shorter and quicker to shift. And as for the trans mount it's giving a very very slight bit more vibration bit I'm not worried about it. Not to noticeable. Everything just feels nice tight and firm.

Hey chillwill, when you did your clutch did you drop the tranny or pull the engine? I'm gonna do mine in the next few weeks and was curious if you had any tips. I'm planning on dropping the tranny. I know that the exhaust gaskets will need to be replaced and I will do the shifter bushings while I'm in there. Anything else you recommend doing? Thanks!

Cheers

Hey dirk I didn't do it my self unfortunately. But they did drop the tranny. I would also do the group N trans mount while you got it out.

No worries man, I was just curious. First clutch job for me but I've done HGs before so I figure I'll just take my time like I did with those. Gonna put in the shifter bushings while everything is out of the way and perhaps do the group N mount. Fortunately I can bike commute so I can take as much time as I need.

I need to do away with the chrome trim. I wish I had the darker headlights and stock grille like yours.

Yeah the chrome on the hatch is annoying. Not sir if I want to buy the colored replacement from a wrx they are only like $189 or buy the $40 wrap for it

Yep I was in the same spot! Just browse some threads and shoot some quick comments

So earlier I was thinking...

Has anyone considered painting the sport grille chrome?

I really hate the chrome, I've been scheming up ways to get rid of it but never get around to it. Could paint the grille and door handles black, which would look good but there's still that stupid trim piece on the rear hatch that looks ridiculous (and would look weird black).

Went ahead and looked up your color code.
For the dark silver it's the 'Steel Silver Metallic, Code: C6Z' and the lighter second tone is the 'Spark Silver Metallic, Code: C3S'

Call up a local paint shop and have them whip up a can of the C6Z if you want to take care of that chrome piece.

Here's a sweet write up for removal

I'm on the fence about the chrome piece and I want to see how it will look tinted instead of blacked out on my black/grey obs.

Cheers

Anyone know if a 2008-2010 WRX Hatchback Exhaust would work for the OBS?

Does anyone know the difference between the two sti pink springs on the Subaru parts website. There are two different part numbers for the front and two for the rear. I know Im missing something real simple.

I belive it's just spring rates. The old springs where a bit softer then the newer set. What the spring rates are I'm not sure can't remember that right now

Cat-back should work fine. If you go above 2.5 inches though, you could start to hurt performance for the NA engine. OEM WRX exhausts are 2.5 and you can usually find them cheap because the first thing anyone with a WRX does is throw a cat-back on it. If you are looking for sound, the WRX will not give it to you, but it's really about as big as you can go without impacting performance.

Read up on NA subies and exhaust on some of the stickies. It's all well documented.

Just order the WRX or STI hatch trim piece. It comes pre-painted and it's the same color as the black OBS.

You might be able to find a wrecked car and get the piece. A font-end hit will leave that intact. I got mine from an STI wreck 5 or so years back. Got the spoiler and the signal mirrors, too.

I'd post a pic but for some reason I'm not allowed to post attachments. Haven't been on for a while, so maybe they changed the settings since I was last active.
