This happens to me all the time. Doesn't matter how far or close I park, some d-bag always has to park next to the shiny gray car when I drive it. I mean, come on. The car is parked away from everyone else because it doesn't want to be touched.

Only good thing I can say is no dings on the Subaru YET but a week after I bought a 2005 Frontier (incidentally my first new car), some asshat rammed her circa 1990 Taurus Wagon door with rust coloration into my truck.

Can you explain this in better detail? If I get an RR sticker do I have to register somewhere? If someone doesn't know what Ride Respect is if they try to ding the door does fire shoot out the sticker? Is there a money back guarantee as in if I get dents with this sticker on I get my dents fixed for free?

the only way to win door dings, is to not care about them. the more you care, the more you lose. doesn't matter what kind of parking strategy you have, you'll never win in the long run. you can try to park between expensive cars, because these owners tend to be more careful about their own car, but once that person leaves, another car comes in, etc.

i have over 20 dings on my car, needless to say.... i learned this the hard way

It is beyond hilarious that anyone would think that self-important jackasses who care so little about other people's cars that they smash their doors into them are going to care about or even notice a sticker. And since the sticker looks like ass, anyone who puts one on is basically crapping on his own car ahead of time in a misguided effort to prevent damage. Pointless.

And the dings add up and make your car look like a beater. Each additional panel (other door, fender) that gets hit costs an owner who cares more money to fix.

Other than that, the panels were all free from door dings during those 8 years. ....I have/had similar luck with my other vehicles over the last 25+ years so I must be doing something right.
Three years and no door dings here and five years on the previous car. Strict discipline of parking in no man's land and staying uphill from potential rolling projectiles. A modicum of situational awareness can go a long way.

Like anyone I could get a ding on any given day, but at least I am making an effort to prevent it like you have. Of course I am limiting my claim of success to door and fender dings. Hood chips and dings from road gravel are present as is pitting on the front fascia. Obviously one cannot successfully drive between flying gravel and sand. A CF hood will solve part of the problem.

I go out of my way to avoid stupid people all the time, and yet somehow they manage to find my car and park RIGHT next to it. Case in point. FML.

WTF is wrong with people? Did this oldsmobile-driving-d-bag not realize that the entrance to home depot is on the OTHER freakin' side of the football-field-sized parking lot?

What's funny is when people can't see you in your car because of window tint, and smash their door into your car. Then you and your friends precede to "take care of" the moron - presumably getting money from said person as compensation for their stupidity.

Being disabled, I have the privilege of using the handicapped parking spaces which are generally quite a bit wider than standard spaces. Still, you'd be amazed at how many people try and squeeze into the smaller space between two larger reserved spaces. I love my new Impreza but I do miss the solid plastic doors of my Camaro. I'm pretty anal about where I park and don't care what anybody else thinks. Heck, I've even parked off the pavement onto the grass. I'd rather pay a parking ticket than see an unsightly door ding. Don't tell anyone, but I've even "google earthed" a parking lot before going there to scope the best parking strategy. Yes, I'm obsessed.

You can go to vistaprint like I did and get 1000 of them printed out on 100lb premium matte paper front and back in color with 3 day shipping for ~$50. Without all the bells and whistles I got, it was only going to be $19...

Two things:
  1. You parked downhill anyway. See that carriage against the curb? Another carriage could have rolled down that hill smashed into your car, provided that that other car was not there as a barrier. And carriages must roll down that lot three-per-hour at that place. Should have parked on the other side of the island (or another one) so that carriages could not roll into your car.
  2. Your yellow wagon looks like a woman's car. Many men (who don't care about their cars) will consciously or subconsciously park next to what appears a woman's car.

Don't hate on sonic yellow. Arguably the best color wrx ever. I'm guessing you drive a black car -- but I don't know since you haven't filled out your profile. Do that first.

I prefer the blaze yellow more so than the sonic yellow.

Pointing out that the overall appearance of a car gives the impression that it belongs to a woman and hating on sonic yellow are not equivalent. For those to be equivalent, one would have to hate women. Anyway, this has nothing to do with the point I was making in my previous post.

vinyl wrap your car if you really care about your paint that much.

I don't see the big problem, considering most door dings are easily poppable and also considering that subaru uses the worst paint techniques. ever. Hell a strong breeze will kick up **** to ding your car.

I can't even explain how many times I park out of my way to only come out to be surround by cars. I have a good 10 door dings..I'm so sick of these MF's who don't give a **** about other peoples properties.

I'm not sure if you guys realize this but...it's just a Subaru, and door dings happen.

If you're that worried about keeping your tin can econobox in pristine condition, why not leave it in the garage under a car cover?

Oh that's such a great idea, stickers! Because when the guy gets back and sees a giant yellow bumper sticker I can only imagine that hes going to really pay attention to if hes hitting the car next to his with his door. Because I know if somebody stuck a sticker on MY car I would be very
