Default eBay Timing Belt & Water Pump kit?

Its come that time and i need to replace my timing belt. I've been looking around and have happen to come upon this kit on ebay that includes:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...3A1|240%3A1318

(1) Timing Belt: 13028-aa200
(2) Timing Belt Idler(smooth): 13073-aa142
(1) Timing Belt Idler (sprocket cogged): 13085-aa080
(1) Timing Belt Idler: 13073-aa230
(1) Hydraulic Tensioner: 13033-aa042
(1) Water Pump: 21111-aa026

What do you guys think of this kit? Would you suggest that i stay away from these guys?

If it's genuine Subaru parts then go for it.

Mhmm, no.

Not a chance, the money you save on this "kit" would not offset a snapped Timing Belt or other serious damage caused by failure of any one of those parts.

Save and spend the money on the right parts and have them installed by a professional\quality shop.

although i don't argue about the OEM parts, having them installed by a shop is another issue. It isn't rocket science, a timing belt is challenging but certainly nothing that someone with at least moderate wrenching experience can tackle without issues.

wobbletop had some earlier experience with it. I recall a pm from him stating it came with good parts meeting OEM,
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ay+timing+belt

one other member posted thier experience with it thinking the kit was bad but it was a bad timing belt guide that shredded the belt. Get a cosworth timing belt guide for piece of mind, the stocker is very thin, can flex and shred your belt.

You could get the SAME crap parts at Discount Auto and save time and money. DO NOT buy an eBay kit as it's nothing more than a middleman doing what you could do for less. These are not SOA parts, they are "same as OEM" AKA the same stuff you could get at NAPA or 900 other parts stores. About the only think I'd trust would be a NAPA timing belt as it's made by Gates and Gates is the OEM maker for Subaru.

Check rockauto.com and get the gates belt. Alltogether
belt, water pump, seals (4 cam and crank), new hoses, pulleys, tensioner, and other small misc parts netted around 450 dollars (or about 100 less than subaru sold parts). Everything whats great quality and a lot of it I didnt need to replace.

Parut is the water pump manufacturer if you're curious. It comes with the gasket.

Thats still a little pricey from ebay. Timing belt and roller kit is about 130 shipped. Water pump and gasket isnt that much. Careful with the water pumps, they are a bit odd, and that is the one part I'd probably go with OEM or a rebuilt one. Their not that bad, but they are sometimes from a poor casting.

Their rollers and belts I've used before, in fact, one of the belts were made in germany, and the rollers in Japan. They were of good quality. My other set should arrive today for this car, I'll take a pic and post.
