I think that is a cool idea. I just wish it was pointed toward the driver a little more. I'm sure it probably only looks that way in the picture.

I've never really had a problem with the side windows, if they do start to fog i just aim the other vent towards the window and it's fine.

its the angle of the picture. if i remember i'll try and get one more from a drivers point of view. I didnt weld it up till I liked where it was, so, for me anyways its right where i wanted it.

The downside of the diy grille is the painfully obvious trunk latch :-(

If you want to hide the latch better, just get some tighter mesh and make your own grille. Then add some Supertones and no one will notice the latch!

edit: Just saw your other post. I was referring to something thicker like this:

lol. I love how the beam cover, grille and rubber lip are all the same shade of faded black.

I was just about to type I wanted supertones to help cover it.

I wanted that mesh but in a small ass town they dont carry it. I didnt want to drive 37 miles to closest home depot.

I like your lower grille. I thought of doing that too but didnt know how it would look..

how is it secured?

I got that stuff from www.customcargrilles.com in their Scrap Heap section. It was really pretty cheap, but I can't remember how much. It came bare so I painted it.

The lower grille is ghetto-rigged but has held incredibly well. Under the beam there are three "L" brackets I made (bent some steel I had lying around). The brackets have 3M double-sided tape to hold it to the underside of the beam and another piece facing forward for the grille. I put the mesh right up against that step in the opening. The lower corners are held with zip-ties. I cut slits in the black piece right behind where there are already two slits in the bumper. Zip-ties went thru those. Sucker hasn't moved since.

You can see the brackets here:

I had debadged the trunk right after getting the car and had it sitting around, so threw it on when I made the new grille. Cleaning off all the old tape was no fun, but I cut some new 3M tape and it's there to stay. Tho I might raise it up a hair one day.

I'll have to check into that site. I'd rather have your grille look over one I made.

I did that 'wrx front badge' when I did my trunk too. Bit it looked weird on a stock grille so I took it off

I'm about to paint the 'wrx' then put it on. Gives a stealthy look.

not 100% sure, 2 1/4 maybe?(it's tube, so, 2 1/4 OD, not sure what the wall thickness is) it was a random piece of header tube left over from the shop i used to work at building headers. the gauge doesnt fit tight by itself, i had to wrap a few elastics around it to get it to stay in the tube. it stays in nice and snug though.

Why? I got it all for free practically

sti cover was torn open from the airbags exploding in a wreck, rs seat was out of a totaled car too + it had holes/rips amongst being dirty as hell. and the office chair was by the curb to be trashed too.

for the price of 1 hour of my time, thread/needle, and 4 bolts I have the most bad ass office chair of any of you.

and you undo those bolts it will still bolt back into any impreza

I love this and have been wanting to do it for years, just never got around to it. Did you just take the seat base off the office chair and bolt it to the bracket or did you have to weld up something.

Cool stuff either way.

Did some work on the rear bumper of the Legacy today. I must warn you, this is pretty ghetto, so if you're offended by ghetto mods, please look away.

The rear bumper was pretty chewed up, and will only get worse when I start using it for camping and biking etc. I tried to find a bumper cover, but I was unable to.

I had some leftover Herculiner (bed liner) from another project so I figured this would work just as well, so I masked off the bumper, scuffed it down and slathered it on.

It turned out pretty good actually.
