You can switch back to awd for under 100$ because I kept all the components of awd (still on the car) all you need is a new center diff.. you can get them under 100$ on forums and in junkyards...
Autotrader doesnt allow mroe than 250 charcters so i couldn't explain it out on autotrader. |

This car is in great shape, (the 5k painjob helps), and is being sold by a great guy.
I wish you luck, and may someone worthy of your car, get it. |

Can the rear-end handel that? Most RWD conversions I've seen the swap out the entire rear for something beafier. I know several guys who tried that on thier DSMs and just blew the damn thing apart. |

I am actually in the process of getting a beefier rear diff and axles, Unfortunatly none of the shops around here have one at the moment, and im not about to go pay double the price of the unit for shipping. I did say 13k obo... so if you don't want to pay 13k pm me a offer and ill consider it. IMO if I was buying this car I would of expected it to go right around 12-13k depending on condition, there are no good gc8's going for less than 12-13k anymore. and mine is Prestine. Not to mention stock rs's make between 90-110, and this made 145/156 and its even more now after the rwd conversion. Not to mentionw brand new tires for the rear, and ill include extra pair of wheels (wrx wheels) with pretty much new tires on them as well (just need to add a bottle of fix a flat there is a small hole in the middle of the tread. |

I'm wondering about your rear wheel "conversion". Could you provide some more details? From what you have said so far, it sounds like you had a problem with the center diff, took it out and just ran it in rear wheel drive. I would hardly consider this a conversion or switchable. By that definition any awd is switchable to rwd, all you need to do is remove the center diff and run a strait drive shaft. Seriously though, what else have you done to this "conversion" other then removing the center diff? What happened to the diff after you removed it? I am interested but to be honest your add seems to be a little misleading with the "switchable" and "conversion" being thrown around. Last edited by rlwaters; 01-14-2006 at 11:49 AM. |

You don't remove the center diff, you weld it up...
Switchable being that i have kept all the awd components instead of removing them... ALL you have to do is buy a used center diff (under 100$) and swap it with the welded center diff that is int here now. I never had a problem with my center diff, I just wanted to go RWD, its much more benefical, I get better gas mileage, its faster, it handles better, the list goes on and on |

Well 2 hours of labor is pretty decent for going from rwd to awd... or awd to rwd... it's really a very simple process you dont have to take the tranny out or anything.
