Calm down, and I'll tell you.
The link to the results will posted after the magazine hit the news stand (the agreement I made with S3 to help cover the dyno cost). After that point they will be available here and on my website (url a few post up). Thanks, Dylan |

I'm guessing none of these
header will be wrapped or coated, right? That could make the headers look short on paper. Just a thought.

jefersun- I would think it might make it for the Feb. issue (hits newstands in Jan.)
JDMSubaru- once again, I apologize. oldmansan- elaborate please, I'm not understanding what you mean. Diversion- I would wrap the header, then give the ECu at least 150 miles to compensate for the increased air flow. I think you'll be much happier with the results. Oo DaRK STar oO- I'm lost... -Dylan |

i'm guessing that from a "Dig" means from a stand still, i.e. "Stop light"
Although i could be wrong. |

Here's another bad thing i've gotten on the GTSpec..
This is from Deadbolt: "Lost power and spoolup. I was running a Monster TD04 that was spooling 17PSI by 2750 RPM's and had put down 222WHP. I put the GTSpec headers on and I was only able to hit full spool by about 3400 RPM and only pulled a 217 WHP. My peak torque was pushed up to 4100 RPM from 2900 also. I took em off and am now running a highly ported stock manifold ceramic coated and am getting 18 PSI from my VF22 at 4100 RPM (I have seen 17.5 as early as 3600 RPM but that might have been a fluke.) " Now Deadbolt is running a SSAutoChrome/Stone Racing headers (found on Ebay for $250 to $300) and actually GAINED horsepower over the GTSpec header. Jay |

What I'm saying is
that I would expect some headers that are not wrapped or coated might lose power compared to even the stock manifold. The retention of heat should make some difference. Are any of the headers going to be wrapped or coated?

San- All the headers are to be wrapped with DEI header wrap to help make this even.

Thank you sir,
exactly what I used. Will you be using the silicone spray sealant? I didn't, but may when I pull it later.

I agree about the header wrap but please don't do too much more than that. Things like coatings and wrap are fine but if both of these and possibly other things were used to retain heat, it would skew the dyno results because not everyone who installs headers would go to extraordinary means to retain every bit of heat possible within the confines of a WRX engine compartment.
I'm not looking for the highest power numbers, just realistic ones that are relative to each other (headers). -- 0==WW==0 "…axles of evil…" - george w. bush |

If you do anything, you might as well do it right! I wouldn't install stainless steel headers unwrapped if i knew i was loosing power. Whats the point of spending the money for the headers in the first place? I would have the header company ship the headers to swain tech and i would then have them coated and shipped to me!

Its fairly easy to wrap... Just do it in sections if need be. I think mine is currently wrapped with the up-pipe and collector area as one. The crossover and drivers side aera as another. and then the passenger side where it comes from the head is a short seperately wrapped section. You also can use mechanics wire to wire some of the wrap to the pipe where it wants to slip off.
