Default It's no wonder so many people don't like John Mayer...

Because the only songs of his they play on the radio are "Daughters" and "Your Body is a Wonderland"

My gf plays a lot of John Mayer and the stuff on his CD's is quite good, but he keeps playing on the radio and that's ALL I HEAR! The pansiest songs in his collection!

I'll proudly rock to the Try! CD, but this radio crap is... craptown.

I agree. I got one of his CDs as a gift a while back. I sorta like some of his non-radio stuff too. Especially when driving the Miata. Fabulouth.

The breathiness of his voice gets annoying after a few songs though.

I thought they retired the John Mayer model and replaced him with v2.0:James Blunt.

John Mayer is even sick of those songs at this point.

I was friends with John Mayer in college. Not the singer John Mayer...a different guy.

His sister was HOT!

If you actually listen to other songs on his CDs, i think you'd have a far greater appreciation for his music than just the stuff they play on the radio. He's a very talented artist who is able to cover many different kinds of genres of music with ease. His new song is kind of political, swaying towards the left side, but it's still a great song with a good message imho.

For me, he's in the same category as Dave Matthews.........that category being "shut your mouth and play some music".

Yeah, his new song is "ok," but nothing spectacular. But songs like Clarity, Homelife, No Such Thing, Neon, and Back To You, along with 95% of the Try! CD are really good.

He can't sing at all. He's barely speaking, it's above a whisper, but barely. Girls like it because the words are "cute" and he plays acoustic guitar. I can't stand the sound of his (singing) voice at all.

And you've listened to the non-radio stuff?

I really didn't care for him until I bought my mom the Try! CD for Christmas and figured that I had spent $15 on it, I might as well take a listen. Then I sampled some more stuff and found out that I actually like it.

John Mayer did a cover of 'Route 66' for the 'Cars' Soundtrack. I saw a 'Making of' special on cars and they showed him recording in the studio.

When he plays guitar his facial expressions look like he's rubbing one out. Seriously. Facial contortions, lip biting, eye scrunching. Pretty hilarious.

And i like his music. Tired of listening to the same cd on my iTunes though.

Agreed. His facial expressions are hysterical. Great player though.

His radio hits are annoying as hell, but I saw the John Mayer Trio on Letterman (or Leno, or whatever) and they rocked the house.

He's probably a decent musician and person, but the CD I heard was unlistenable.

My friend had it in his car and he decided to play it. The other passengers and I gave it 7 songs before we couldn't take it anymore.

He's touring with Sherryl Crow. That's his target audience. I am not a member of said audience.

You guys are being a little retarded about this.

I hate the radio stuff too... but seriously... Go watch the Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival DVD. The cuts from Mayer are quite good. He's an excellent guitarist.

If you think 'Daughters' and 'Vultures' "sounds the same," then you must have terrible perception of sound waves.

Listen to any of his bootlegged live club stuff thats out there and you'll quickly see the radio stuff is just out there to attract the 13 year olds with their parents credit cards.

Edit: might not be bootlegs, could have been recorded for an album, i can't tell and I got them from the internet so I have no idea their origin. They were on mp3.com before mp3.com became commercial crap.
