Default Any issues with wheel spacers?

Just curious why everyone is so afraid to run spacers with a BBK or Brembo setup's. Are there any problems you will run into w/ a spacer?
The reason I ask is because I had to use a 1/8th spacer to clear my Stoptech's w/ 18x7.5 Volk GTP's. I thought they would clear as I had read that most 18's do but these definetly hit....I ended scratching my calipers putting the first wheel back on.

So, any problems with using a spacer??

V rex,

I personally don't run spacers, i would rather run wheels that are made to fit my car... or my particular setup.

if you do get spacers, it would be nice to get hubcentric ones.

good luck!

How do I know if they are hubcentric?

I just don't understand what the big deal is. People always pass up on certain wheels because they will not clear their brakes...why don't they use a spacer? Are their any drawbacks besides them not fitting w/out them??

thanks

If your that unsure, You can probably get longer wheel studs to make up for the spacer.

yup. Spacers are fine. If your going 3/4 inch or more then you just upgrade your studs. Sport/truckers have been using spacers for years and years to trick out their trucks. Lowered trucks are much heavier and harder on wheels/studs/ then your subaru and they do it w/o problems.

go for it.

Yeah, i've been using the 1/8th spacers for a few weeks now with no problems. Loving the stoptech's.

I got some 5mm spacers and ended up returning them. Most are not hubcentric so you get the the spacer balanced on the hub. You will get some vibration at high speeds if they are not perfectly centered. I would rather take the time to find wheels that fit!

also - using a spacer changes the effective offset. some have noted wheel bearing problems when the offset is incorrect.
