Resonated pipe question
I am waiting on my dual tip Stromung stainless to arrive. Depending on how it sounds/resonates when installed, I might consider making a midpipe that utilyzes two of the stock resonators, in-line. I already have one extra stock midpipe and am looking for another.
Has anyone done this before and had success? Am I right in believing that the resonator does not restrict, it just changes the frequency of the sound waves? Andreas Walter

I think that the ID of the stock resonator is 1 7/8" so it would definatly be restrictive compared to the Stomung. But as far as A resonator restricting flow it won't cause much back pressure. Your best bet would be a resonated midpipe the same size as the stromung piping (if you want a resonator).

Thanks. So if the stock Subaru resonator is not recommended due to its I.D., what other companies make generic stainless resonators that would work well at keeping frequencies at bay?
Again, I am just fishing for thoughts, as I have not received/installed my Stromung yet. Andreas |

how are resonators welded onto the midpipe?
is it a wrap-around the pipe or does it have inlet and outlet like a cat converter? |

The stock resonated midpipe utililyzes a section that has a perforated core, which in theory is placed where the resonance is greatest. It is just a straight-through design and does not slow down the exhaust flow.

Does anybody sell a generic resonator that can be welded onto any current midpipe?
