Default Getting Sprung for Spring!

Yahoo! I just spend the tax refund that I'm not getting on new lift springs for the Baja!

Here's the story on the delay...apparently ISR/Rennick had springs all along for the Legacy Outback, but had no way of knowing if they fit the Baja, and Scorpion went to another planet for awhile and could not be contacted.

After finally getting together on this they learned that all they needed was a different spring seat for the front (or is it the back?). Those come from Subaru for about 25 bucks. With those in place the Leg. OB wagon springs fit.

So, anyone interested...there ARE lift springs at ISR/Rennick.

I'm stoked! The waiting is gonna hurt however!

Perry

Subysolutions.com offers a rear SSI overload springs for a Outback sedan or wagon. They say you can increase load capacity by 200-300 lbs and can raise some cars as much as 1/2 inch. And they have a good ride without cargo. This would be good for someone that did'nt want to do springs all around, but increase load capacity.

Default Lift springs at Rennick

They are in stock at Rennick. The spring seats come from Subaru.

Mine are shipping out on Monday I hope! Hopefully there will be pictures shortly thereafter.

I talked to Brett at Rennick, he was very knowledgeable. Give him a call.

I guess the amount of lift remains to be seen. The posted lift is 1.5 inches, but Rennick said 2 inches for the Baja. So, I guess I will say between 1.5 and 2 inches. Hows that for definitive.

The ride will be stiffer, but I don't mind that. I want to use a trailer, and load the bed with stuff on bad roads, so I think it will help for that.

I guess will have to report back after the springs are on as to how the ride is really affected. The down travelfor the wheels will be reduced, so the next thing is to see if I can find longer strut inserts.

Default need update

Perry,
congrat on getting the springs. once you get them installed, could you answere some questions for me?

How much lift did you actually get?
what's the ride like?
Could you go down to the local tire dealer and try on 225/70-16s to check on rub, front and back and is there any rub when springs are fully compressed?

Demmit I'm demanding sorry. Any help with this is much appreciated.

and in case you are interested in other mods (bigger tires need more hp/tq) check these sites out.

So you just doing springs to lift it... with this hurt the suspension travel etc and the camber of the tires? How much are the springs?

Yup, just the springs for now. Yes, they will hurt the suspension down travel. I wonder if there is a way to placed a spacer in the tops of the struts to get some of that back? How much they hurt the downtravel I can't say as yet. Since they are also stiffer, it may not be noticable. Only time will tell.

They were delivered to me for about 400 bucks. 4 springs and two new spring seats for the front.

Now being the 04-05 are taller will this spring set make those taller or does it just bring the 03 to the higherlevel of the 04-05

I don't have a definite answer about 04/5. It depends on how they were raised. It seems to be a body lift, but not everyone I ask agrees. It is is a body lift, then the springs will work fine. If it is a suspension lift of some kind then it will have litttle effect. I know that Sean at Rallitek decided against the springs for that reason, but others don't agree.

As for the ride quality, I like it fine. Better in fact. I have not noticed the loss of downtravel as of yet.

Default The "lifted" B-ha

Okay, here it is. About a 1.5 inch lift over stock. Just slightly more than the factory would do it.

It is Rennick Motor Sports, or RennickMotorSports.com

Go for it, I am happy so far with the results.

Default apologies

there is one "n" in renick http://www.renickmotorsports.com/oscommerce/catalog/

when all was said and done, I did get the discount that was promised, or at least most of it, without putting up a fuss... and it does look like the parts will get here when promised as well. I apologize unreservedly for any emotional harm that I, or my statements, may have caused... I therefore undertake to never react hastely hereafter... and may god have mercy on my soul

It will be interesting to see how much lift you gain on the '04/'05 model. I am on the edge of my seat! I have an '05 and also wanted to go a little higher. Could you measure a fixed point on the body with the OEM wheels/tires, then again with the new springs with the OEM wheels/tires? I just want to see how much lift is gained on the '04/'05s without new wheels/tires being a factor. Thanks! Also pics would be awesome! Good luck and enjoy!
