so i plan to mod my car (right now its "stage 2") I plan on adding EWG and ELH. And of course ill need a retune- so thats why I am in need of a way to unlock my ECU, or find another ECU. So I guess I have to find any v7 then as Clark mentions? V8 will not work? v9 DEF a no go?

Any of you fine folks have a AH581 pinout?....my v8 (E85) conversion runs fantastic so far (still tuning it), but the car has an issue:
-Illumination/tail lights stay on...always -Back up lights do not work -Charge light is on...alt output is around 15.5 at the battery (USDM alt) -Brake indicator stays on I've looked at the JDM/USDM schematics. I recognize the relationships / possible current flow w shorts in the wiring...I think it's ecu related. The car did not have these issues before. I have grounds (good ones) on the intake to chassis, A/C to chassis, etc. Not a ground loop issue, I don't believe. Help? BTW, for the noobs... If you are responding to a post, please quote the person you are providing info for; this thread is already convoluted enough. S. |

I've seen more JDM engines than the average joe, and I've never seen a sticker that looked like it was peeled off. Scary, considering what they expect for these engines. |

To me, Thats clearly a fake sticker. Sorry. People have been installing those stickers on the japan side for many years now and gaining the premium for the RA engine. Sorry man that really sucks.
I would start by unplugging the engine connectors by the battery. Use an ALL and push the pins in and reseat them. Make sure your intake temp sensor on the back of the manifold is unplugged. Your engine could have it but the chassis does not. Also. On your car there is no Blow by sensor. If your engine still has this plugged in, Unplug it. Its on the inlet pipe. If you plug this in, Your ecu will error as your 02 wiring does not route that back correctly. Its not needed. Just turn the code off. As for the Reverse lights. You need to plug in the chassis connector to the trans. Maybe you swapped the plugs here? Common mistake. You can also log the neutral switch. Its likley not working. If the reverse light and neutral switch does not work. Your AVCS wont either. depending on which trans you have, you may need to swap the NPS in the rom or change the neutral switch to the oposite direction type switch if the rom does not have that option. |

True.. From memory its a black plastic piece. I had a very troubled car once that I rigged, I mean I fixed, with a few Zip ties over the connector.
This issue is very common on 06 to 07 STIs. The motor mounts where crap. When they would loosen up, the motor would twist and pull on that connector and yank the wires. What a mess. People would get phantom codes, throttle errors all kinds of trouble. C |

also- jsut to add i DO NOT have the type RA. Its the JDM limited (which from what I was told shares the same engine- big port heads like the v8 with the forged v7 internals) Also the vf30 instead of the vf34 as well as a different tune. jdm limited v7 also has AC.
Any other way you can PROVE that its not a JDM limited motor, and not just a regular v7? based on the code (i have the JDM STI limited v7). |

I was curious- waht about the intake manifold? How the the intake manifolds compare between the v7, v7 limited, v7 s202, v7 spec C. I know the v7 have the TGV-less intake manifold (but its not one solid piece). Is the v7 limited like this as well, or is just a one piece long runner IM. and excuse my noobery, but where is the trans cooler lol. |

Im almost certain this is sarcasm- but i dont know you, so its not so easy to tell. Correct me if im wrong, but early v7 models were small port. later v7,v7 spec C, and v8+ were all bigger port.
All info I found was through various searches on nasioc (you know, where if you ask a stupid question they say "SEARCH NOOB!") so I did, thats what i found... Is the information I've been reading completely false? |

I am going to be receiving my V8 longblock tomorrow and hopefully have it installed the following week. My only question is will i be able to drive the car around safely with an E-Tune from Clark Tune or other reputable tuners on this thread or are those tunes only safe to drive on for a short time? I will be using 93 octane gas, and the only mod the car has is a 3 inch cat back exhaust.
