Default How did you get into the Subaru world?

How do you guys get into the Subaru world? Parent's hand one down? Rally? A friend? Dealership?
My Father bought a 98 Outback in 02. Since then, he's owned 9 Subaru's since. But at about his 3rd one, I got attached. The first thing that caught my eye was the snow drive. It amazed the hell out of me when I was around 15. And now I'm here, on my 3rd Subaru!

Don't know if a thread has been made about this or not so pardon me if there is one.

an aggressive sales rep at RK Subaru back in 06. Always wanted one and was talking a friend into buying a LGT instead of an acura TL. He went with the acura (like a bitch), i drove home in a new wrx.

I snowboard a lot, worked at a resort and needed to be able to get there in the snow. Wanted a wagon with AWD and a stick, went to a family friend who owned a car auction and he came up with a 99 legacy 2.5gt wagon and couldn't have been happier. 5 years later I wanted something more powerful and now wrx wagon.

I've owned Hondas since 2000.
1.) Civic 90 Si Hatch
2.) Civic 95 Dx coupe. SiR II JDM conversion
3.) Civic 89 Dx Hatch
4.) Civic 00 Ex Coupe. Current daily driver.

I wanted to buy something for longevity. Something that has AWD(See my location). Something with a little ****-n-git.

I googled "Cars Mechanics Hate" and found Subaru and Toyota.(Hate meaning it doesn't bring them a lot of money because they are reliable and bring in easy repairs).

I was debating between a 4runner and WRX.

WRX one d/t gas mileage.

Wanted something I could carry my Kayaks on as well.

So Jan of this year, after graduating college a year ago and accumulating savings since 2004... I decided to purchase a WRX. It gets here Apr/May.

This is my first WRX. I love hondas because they are reliable as hell. I don't plan on modifying my WRX I just hope it is good to me in the long run... I'll be good to her.

I can't wait to wave to other Subies Even though my civic is a clean one, I still get people trying to race me.
Other honda drivers grill the hell out of me and then do a ricer pull. I'm usually eating breakfast on my way to work when it happens too. I just keep this face as they go by

I'm pretty sure the WRX/STI's didn't get the the same good consumer reports as the rest of the other Subaru line....

Yea, they didn't... but you really have to look at the ones that probably come in.

always liked small cars/hatchbacks. and after a series of used pos, looked for a new performance car...on a budget. Looked at volks Gti, and then found wrx. bought mine new 2003. nothing compares to bang for the buck. convinced wife to buy a 2013 outback.

I needed an AWD car with room for outdoor gear, so I bought a '95 Outback in 1998 when I was a young buck (28 at the time). It was my first of 5 Subarus.

My dad got a '99 forester about 6 years ago. I learned to drive on that and that was basically my DD for school when I got my license. My dad also had a '97 OBS and my sister, then my brother drove that. Still to this very day I miss the forester. That thing was a ****ing tank.

Originally got into Subarus from watching and playing Rally games on original Xbox when I was like 10. When my first trucks motor died, I bought an 06 2.5i 5spd, a few months later found a completely stock, clean 02 WRX, which is my favorite body style. Ended up selling my 2.5 and bought the WRX and haven't looked back.

I'm not 100% sure but I think my genesis was by looking at the chart in the back of Road & Track magazine and finding the quickest and cheapest car on the chart, which happened to be the WRX at the time. Next year the SRT-4 came out which was faster than light and $10 so I should have waited a year, but I digress....

It's a family thing. My aunt got my eye on Subaru's. she swore them them and being in the northeast and love snowboarding my 06 2.5i Impreza was a great choice when I got it over three years ago.

We purchased a new '06 STI in 2006 as we wanted something with performance and a little flair in a four door vehicle.

Sold that a few years back and last week we decided we wanted another Subaru and purchased a 2013 WRX sedan. We wanted another Subbie to promote our business and something we could drive year round as well.

Parents owned a rusty POS GL wagon in the 80's, remember it in all its tetanus shot glory. Ended up with a 95 SVX LSi, 98 Forester, 2011 WRX and now the 2013 STI. I hate Subaru's for making me love them so much :3

Seen them in Rally footage first. Learned more about them from the original Gran Turismo. Needed a cheap AWD winter beater back in 04/05. Bought a '95 Impreza 2.2 auto L model off eBay. As always, the mod gears started turning in my head, but before I did anything drastic the engine started ticking badly. Traded it in on a '05 WRX sedan. Now I'm in a '07 STI.

I want an AWD winter beater to give relief to the GTO after moving to hilly PA. Not many choices out there when you want a manual, and from AutoX I liked the Subarus. I sought out a Saabaru because I like odd cars, and traded up to a WRX a year later for some refinement/power the Saabaru was lacking.

You sold your Skyline for a WRX?!! Don't get me wrong, I love my Subie, but I doubt I would ever choose it over a R33 or R34 if I had the choice.

For me, my first WRX was the first Subaru I've ever owned. I was selling my Civic and wanted a nice starting point in the performance car scene, and I loved the styling and look of the WRX's over the Evo's. Plus there's a Evo curse at my shop. Bad juju

I got wrapped in to doing a promo video for SOA a few years ago, spent some time around them, (and their headquarters) and really started to love the cars. I had a few friends (and a boss) with one and got my '03 WRX today! (after being rear ended in my old car, and having it totaled)

I have been driving Honda's since'03, mostly coupes but a couple hatches as well. I had just bought a Civic coupe and then my wife got pregnant with our 2nd child a month later. We ended up moving to VT shortly thereafter and while my Civic was a great car it just couldn't carry the whole family comfortably. I decided that I wanted a wagon and given our location, awd would be nice too. I love Honda, but they couldn't give me what I wanted and stay within my budget.
One day I saw an '06 Impreza 2.5i wagon at a used car lot and liked it. I test drove it and also an '03 wrx wagon, the wrx had been abused and neglected so I took the 2.5i. I miss the fuel efficiency of my Civic but enjoy driving my Impreza a lot more.
