Kinda like a Japanese 2CV

Default Hey cool!

Okay, I'll say it. It looks like a VW beetle from yester-year.

But hey, it looks like a cool project car. Is it a rear engine? I'll check your website periodically to see how its going.

I thought about getting an early 60's Saab 95 for project. A 3-cyl two-stroke, two door wagon. 38 hp w00t!

yeah it's rear engine

and true that... it does look like the beetle..
but it is MUCH smaller than the beetle!!

funny that it came out about the same time
as the first buggies... 1958 was the first production date
of the Subaru 360's...
they didnt make it state side until 1968
and were NOT a popular car!!

as a matter of fact, they were labeled a death sentence...

now that i've driven one, i can understand why!

it will be a fun project....
i plan on getting going on it this winter....

cheers

Hey Subie Chick Marry me?

Hehe, You're a kick ass subie chick, ya know that

Good luck!

HEHE, a 2 Stroke engine.... That's pretty funny. I bet it puts out a lot of horse power for the size of the engine though.

Very cool, how bout mini-me.

How is the aftermarket part avability for something like that, surely they must make jdm lights for it ?

humm, I know you can throw a old porshe turbo engine into the old vws, wonder what you could squeeze in there?

Can you adjust the headlights with your toes? Looks like you could.

Seriously, very cool, will be sweet when she's (or he ) all done.

WOW, Jamie! When I worked in a grocery store during high school, the store's assistant manager bought one new! He didn't have it very long before he traded it in on a '64 Mustang convertible. I guess I remember it because we, uh, carried his car off a couple of times! Better put a lock and chain on it or it might "get legs" and walk off.

I like the picture of the guys "manhandling" the 360. I've read that back in '68, the 360 was available in only two colors: white or yellow. And, due to its weight (~975 lbs), the 360 didn't have to comply with any of the then-existing Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (it really IS a death trap). And, back in '68, the 360 was sold without a warranty (at least SoA was honest about it back then). And in '68, SoA only had dealers in CA and the Northeast. So Subie Gal is in roughly the same predicament (with respect to parts and service) as the original owner.

Oh yeah, was it a 360 in that one Mentos commercial where the 4 construction guys pick up the girl's car because she got blocked in?

Actually the 360 was not imported into the USA as a car. Legally it was a covered motorcycle.

Congrats Jamie,

Now if it were only AWD that would be really cool. Can you shoe horn in an EJ205 or an EJ207 in there?
