Got ripped off by Nasioc Member
hey guys, whilst I have not been a very active poster on here, i have been a member of nasioc for a couple of years now and traded with people from the States to my home in Australia. Never had a problem with any transactions which include at least 8 unichips. I Purchased a TurboXS unichip and paid for it via paypal on the 28th of March and cleared on the 3rd of April, pm was recieved by the seller acknowledging payment had been received this was on the 04-03-2008 at 11:34 AM. A further message by the seller said that the item had been shipped on the 3rd of April this message was received on the 04-04-2008 at 11:37 AM. The date today is Monday the 5th of May and I still have not received the item. I have sent numerous emails regarding the item and the response has been that it is still in transit. This is impossible as nothing takes this long to be shipped. When asked for a refund of my money my request was declined and I was told by the seller to take it up with the post office to get my refund. I have not received the goods I have paid for. The amount I paid was $120.00USD which in the description of payment was for a turboxs unichip in perfect working order. My question is do I name and shame him now or do i wait until my item dispute through paypal has been completed? he is ignoring my PM's now and seems very un co-operative. He is a member of the AKIC.
its a shame that my faith in trading overseas with people of Nasioc has been ruined by one bad egg. pete

Just FYI, it's taken more then a month for many parts i've ordered from out of country to get to my home. I think you need to be patient and wait a few more weeks. A month isn't long enough for your item to get to Alaska or Australia or from Alaska to Australia. So don't be a dick and wait a bit. Once you accuse a member you can't take it back. Where are you posting from anyway? This is in the Alaska forum but you say you're in Austraila?

Hes from Ausy The guy he bought it from Is from AK hence why he posted in AKIC. I dont think its a problem, just more so of how much longer its going to take it get there... I just had an item sent parcel post. the slowest it could go from the midwest to ak took it 3weeks and some odd days. Juss gotta wait it out.
Did you get a conformation number? Does it have insurance? Best is to wait then take it to the mail company. |

wonder if the guy realizes that it can take 2 or more weeks to ship something from Alaska. Took me about 2-3 weeks to get something from the wife here in Alaska to my address (at that time) in Canada which is a heck of a lot closer then Aust. Dude needs to have some more patience.

Took 3 weeks to get a box shipped from Canada to here. I was about to freak out, but it arrived shortly after that. This wasn't even car parts and it was ordered off of Ebay. I was aware of the shipping time though.....
Have some patience, I would allow 2 more weeks then have the seller put in a claim for a lost item. They,ll do a search on it and then go from there. USPS land is a lot bigger then you think. -Wes |

Our community section is a lot tighter/smaller than others. Everyone knows almost everyone here. When someone randomly comes in and posts people ask questions. Especially a Moderator, don't get your silk panties in a bundle.
Nice quick edit you did. Couldn't even quote what you typed before you did. |

Well we'll get the chance to meet next summer. My wife and I are planning a trip up to Anchorage and I'll be brining my scooby. Sorry to hijack the thread. I just though I'd help out by giving my experiance as a many time international shipper.

*whew*
I think the main thing here is that when stuff gets shipped from teh us, if it's Alaska, it's expected to be even longer, i hope that for the seller's sake, his Alaska bros standing up for him is in good faith and all gets settled soon... |

I've always had good luck shipping stuff from Kentucky to Alaska, and vice-versa. Usually only takes a week. I guess thats one of the perks of living in a town where the UPS Hub is.

ok, just fyi, I just shipped off my old Cobb AP to an legacygt.com member on 4/22 before we left on our trip via Fed Ex intl Ground. I got a call on 4/30 that it's sitting in Portland because they can't find the customs forms I sent?? WTF. So, now it's 5/5 and it's still sitting in Portland while they sort this out. I've contacted the buyer to let him know there's some sort of delay, however, I wouldn't have known there was a problem had they not even called me. I warned him that it always takes longer to ship to or from AK, we're considered overseas. so unless you paid the $150 to get it to you 2nd day, hold your horses and wait.
also, I've ordered several SWRT items from the UK and it can take anywhere from 2 wks to 2 months. |

we back our own people here but we don't even know who we are backing up... the guy could be a scammer for all we know. Of course I could have just not read who this member is and its writen clear as day somewhere. Its not like everyone from alaska is perfect. I'm sure we got at least one scammer in the state
Also what probably a few members here didn't realise is that the guy (OP) has been posting this same stuff in other sections and nicholam may have just been following the crumbs and ended up here. I know I saw it posted in general, then saw it posted here and was about to rip the OP for multi posting until I saw the seller was from alaska. No harm done as far as I can tell. everyone needs a chill pill and let the mods/seller/buyer sort this all out. |

The smartest thing you could have done in this situation would have been to ship it with a tracking number. Being from Alaska, I do not ship anything unless the carrier provides a tracking number. It is the only way to know where your package is at every moment. If you tried to ship it the cheapest way, and not spend a buck for reassurance that is your fault, not the sellers. I would give it a couple weeks and go from there.

Ground absolutly SUCKS!!! I have never had good luck with it, Fed Ex or USP. They always take longer than they say it will be. 2 weeks will be 2 months sometimes. But when you get into International shipping, I work for a company that has offices in France and Canada, just documents take forever.
