Hey Sc00by,

Thanks for the input... I wanted to run a wheel and tire that would put more rubber on the ground and give me a close to edge look without rolling the fenders. This is the look I want to accomplish. I really like the look of the rota grid or xxr522, so any suggestions of size and tires would be appreciated.

Are you planning to stick with stock sized tires? That'll make a big difference, along with any planned suspension changes.

Default 1 more question

So, Rota Grids +42 offset with 17x9 and 225/45/17 tires will not require fender rolling?
Thanks again..

but if you dont want to do fender mods, why dont you run a smaller wheel and a slightly larger tire?

You aren't putting more rubber down. Based on your needs, you don't need a 9" wheel. You don't need a 9" wheel to get a wheel closer to the fender either.

That kind of stretch isn't needed on a +42, and will look goofy. Try going up to a 235/40 or 245/40

Ok, so I should run with a set of 17x9 +42 with a 235/40 tire....or could I run a 17x7.5 +48 with the 225/45 and get the desired effect and feel without needing to roll the fenders?

9 +42 and a 235/40 would be perfect. Try and get a wider fitting 235 like a federal or star spec.

so I have a set of steel wheels that came off of a VW. They are 16x6.5 and I believe 42 offset. I was going to sell them to a guy but he doesn't think they will fit on his 2008 outback sport. I told him I was almost positive they would since I've see them on the new WRX's, but I just wanted to double check.

Sorry, totally forgot to mention the bolt pattern. They are 5x100. I'm assuming the 2008 OBS is also 5x100 since the only ones I've seen that are different are the 05+ STi

I'm tempted to just throw one on my wrx and see. Do you think the lug seat would be an issue?

What do you guys and girls think about this?

bugeye on 04 sti struts and sti tein s-tech springs:
17x9" with +38 offset on 275 40 17 tires?

I'm thinking fender rolling would be necessary, but with the +38 think I can fit all that tire in there without rubbing somewhere other than the fender?

roll...pull.....

no fender clearance will be the hardest part to fit that much tire.

Should I just make it easier on myself and go with a smaller width tire? The roads around here suck so I need enough tire to protect the rim.

If I have 225's on my car and it fits fine, would a 225 on a 9" rim be fine or would the rim rub? And I'm not saying I will go with a 225 because I'm not a fan of stretching tires. I still want performance.

lol from 275 down to 225.

225 will stretch quite a bit.

with a roll all around and aggressive camber you could fit a 255 fairly easily.

I have a quick question about offset. I'm going from my stock 02 wrx rims which are 16x6.5 I believe with a +55mm offset to a set of enkei's which are 17x7 with a +39mm offset, I just want to double check and make sure that this would be okay and safe? Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks

YES, ABSOLUTELY YES it is an issue.

Never ever ever run Conical (taper) lug nuts on a ball seat lug hole. The contact patch of the lug is extremely small and WILL FAIL.

Running ball seat lugs in a cone seat hole isn't as big of an issue because there's a larger contact patch between the two surfaces, but it's still not ideal.

They make ball seat to cone seat washer inserts that go between your lug and the wheel. I'm running these because the wheels I bought came with a ball seat (even though I asked for cone seat) and have not had any issues yet. They're super cheap as well.

because you can't have a wheel that has 3 different bolt patterns.

my guess is yours aint one of them.

hi guys, please one question!

is 17x7,5 +35 offset too wrong to a 2006 wrx wagon? I found a good price here for this set, first page recommends 7.5" ...+47 to +50, but...who knows? maybe +35 fits...?

thanks!

on a wagon, thats a bit low. You might need to roll the rear depending on ride height and camber settings.

thanks for the fast reply, man.

read some pages back, and saw someone warning about bearings and things...maybe is more safe to use the offset values in the table of the first page...

wagon fitment looks to be specific. 17x8 +45 will be ok?

stock height, maximum of -1.5 camber on front, rear is stock...

thanks!
