Default Privately owned, built, and tuned STI breaks 800+ whp

I hope Mitch doesn't mind me doing this, but I just feel this car and it's builder deserve a little more attention than they're getting in the other thread.

The Builder:

The Car:

The Dyno Chart:

(notice the smoothing is set to 0)

Anyone who knows Mitch, knows that he's poured his heart and soul into this car. The work he's done is top notch, and is quite incredible for a hobbiest. Being a close friend, it makes me extremely proud, and happy to see him get some serious gratification from all of his hard work.

I just want to say way to go Mitchell

I can't wait to see what it does when you turn the boost up

Now THIS is what I like to see -- DIY FTW!!!!!!!!!

It's good to know that the spirit still exists. I'm soooooo sick of everyone always referring to "their builder" or "their tuner" when talking about their "projects."

Did Mitch tune the car himself also? That is an awesome torque curve.

Very very nice.
Few questions if you don't mind.
I hear people have issues with turbos clocked up. Oil pooling or something about seels breaking? Any thoughts on that or am I just hearing misconceptions about turbo placement.
If you don't wanna give out specs I understand but I would love to know what kinda boost you were running to make that kinda power, not to mention what kinda enginemanagement. Never the less, Very sick car. Love the setup.

The manifold is one of the many parts on the car Mitch designed and built himself (he had some serious help with the design part from a close ME friend).

You can see progress from early in the build in his blog (also listed in the other thread)

A few of those are older specs.

No more Volks, has the Prodrive wheels now. The 4294R is gone in favor of a 4202. I think he redid the manifold at this time as well.

Rob or Mitch can chime in on this.

What I love most about this setup is how simple and well thought out it is but don't get me wrong this setup is very nice and extremely well built. Too many go with extravagant setups such as dual plenums, individual throttle bodies, 8 fuel injectors, interesting intercooler setups, and for all that trouble don't net any gains over a smart setup.

Thanks,
Phil

Thanks to everyone for the compliments.

One more thing that is not on the list is an aluminum Drive shaft shop drive line, I got sick of the factory two piece banging around!

Before building the turbo set-up I got a hold of Garrett and they said anything within 30 deg of the CHRA being flat was OK, so I stayed within that spec with no problems yet. It was going to be virtually impossible to make the 42R fit with out any fire wall modifications without putting just a little angle on the turbo. Also putting the turbo on a slight angle allows you to have a straighter shot into the turbine housing from the uppipe and a straighter output from the turbine housing into the down pipe. .

Tuning is the one thing that I did not do this time around. A very close freind tuned the car and did a great job.

I just want to say thanks to my friend Mike (03whitegsr) for helping me finish up on the most important part of a big build "The Tune".
