![]() Still no real info, really? Man.
Also the new car must be ages away as nothing has been seen. Chucking the new engine in a 2020 and testing incognito isn't enough. They need to test the whole package of drivetrain and chassis (sgp which the dealers on here say is waaaaay better than the old one) in the real world. Last one was out testing in different guises for about a year. Supra was driving around for what, 2 years? This car isn't just going to be revealed at new York and then on sale this year. It's still ages away, just my opinion tho.....

![]() Before phones with cameras. Yes.
Before digital cameras? No. Before cell phones? Also no. Before social media? Also, also no. All one had to do was pull the files off your camera onto your computer and email to publisher or put on a forum. Check my join date. This is also social media. It's not twitter or FB, but there were places people went for stuff. Also, car magazines, et al had their online presence up and running. Photos were shared, albeit just *slightly* differently than *now*. It may had taken a few minutes to pull the pics off the camera and email them or post/share them. --kC |

![]() It's hard to argue how many more cameras there are now compared to then. I'm also surprised we haven't seen anything yet.

Carried digital cameras around everywhere they went Had a phone with a camera. doesn't matter if they had a phone or not. Used well connected social media (forums are not considered social media) |

Forums are forums. Car people are car people. They gather where the platform provides the most use and share info related to cars. That's this place. People who cross forums will post information between them and that's how more people see it. Sure it's easier to spread it on one platform like facebook, but the same principle applies. It will spread all over. No shortage of cameras and camera phones existed in Japan back then. That's where the bugeye came from. |

![]() I also think you forget how rare it was to see any official spy shot of a Subaru back then compared to other brands. Everything released in the JDM market first (usually a year ahead) and it was before Subaru did a lot of finished bodywork mule testing in the US. The best we would get would be artist renderings from Japanese magazines.

![]() I first saw bugeye wrx from Japanese car magazine at Narita airport on my way to Korea in summer of 2000. That's when nobody from the U.S. really knew about bugeye. When it came out on 2001 as 2002 model, I bought my first brand new Subaru, bugeye wrx. It was a bit different in good old days.

![]() US should've never Subaru'd. There. I said it. We can't have nice things. The US is like The Narrator in Fight Club. "I wanted to destroy something beautiful."

![]() what about the spyshot of the levorg, if the 2 cars are based off each other. what does that mean for the wrx. was the wrx development finished and they used that as a base for the levorg in the spyshot. also we only caught the 2020 legacy spy pics here. the outback was never spotted in the open before they released the teaser for the auto show.
