Default Forester SF 2000 Ej20 engine swap to forester 2010

Can you help me with some things please....
I want to swap a ej 20 engine from a 2000 forester to a 2010 SH forester diesel.... The engine with the transmission work just fine together.... My only problem is with the engine running....
I was wondering... It's possible to transplant the SF wiring to the SH and use it just for managing the engine (as a stand alone ecu)???
And let the original ecu from the SH to manage the car sistems...?
Let's say for example if my ej20 engine is on a stand... If I connect the ecu and the wiring, it should start, right?

Can't do it without a standalone. 2010 is a canbus ecu.
