version 1 AP's? not really i think there are plenty of them out there. Just make sure you get one for your exact year (AP1's are almost all model/year specific, unlike AP2, which only the size of the block matters). Used should be findable for [EDIT] 300 or less i suspect. Toss on a used or cheap ebay DP & catback, and you've got some serious power gains for $600 or so. Those numbers could be a tad optimistic, but can't be too far off.

i have been looking at the ebay downpipes and cat backs so you think they would be worth buying?

they're not exactly top quality, but they're not un-useable either. Lots of people use them and are happy with the performance. The sound tho? i'm kind of a big fan of quieter exhausts, so for me the choice was limited to just a few.

Looks like there's a lot on ebay, running about 100shpd for a bell-mouth 3" DP. Can't really go too wrong there unless it cracks someday. Pretty std stuff. I actually liked that one that has a flex joint in it, since most subaru exhausts have no flex anywhere. I would think that can't be good...tho mine's held up ok so far.

As far as the exhaust, looks about $150-200 for cat-backs (tho there are full DP+catback for about 200), even some that don't have the nasty (IMHO) fart-can N1-style mufflers. Getting one that has an extra resonator in the first section of the cat-back could be good too, that helps keep noise to a PoPo-acceptable level.

The only thing that concerns ebay pipes is the fitment, but nothing a hammer can help!
Really though, a pipe is a pipe.

BTW, I love n1 style exhausts, not the ebay ones though

I hate N1-style big coffee can mufflers almost as much as i hate loud annoying ones.

So thats out. But I found a brand new Borla Twin-tip a few years back, and i love the heck out of it. Quieter, and looks very subdued. But still has all the performance of anything else. (can roll a golf ball from one end out the other i'm sure. nothing to impede flow like some bigger muffler designs.) Served me well on my WRX, same with the STi.

Megan Racing? Pretty much the same as any other ebay stuff from china right? As far as i know.

Bump, anyone else form the area?

BTW: going on a drive tomorrow (May 30) to Driggs (from Idaho Falls) for lunch at Warbirds Cafe at the airport up there. If anyone's interested, meet at The Fred Meyer's parking lot at 10pm.

ah, nope, but i think you were referring to that bugeye wrx that used to park there a lot before it was Melaluca. Don't know that guy/girl. Wasn't too bad looking of a car. There's a lot of Silver and Blue in our town, but not much black/red/white/etc.

Who be you?

I usually try to put on one drive, show/bbq, event of some variety every month during the summer months. I tried to come up with a flyer in early spring so people had early notification of event dates, etc. I used to do it as a local MR2 club, as thats my other automotive passion, however I got quite sick of lots of people wanting to go and no one showing. Maybe its just time to find a new crop of people...

When it comes to events, I'm not biased about who shows, what brand of vehicle, etc, or who organizes anything. No need for clubs, dues, organization levels, etc, just people out to get together and have fun.

As for me? I'll start the AA intros:

there are alot of really good idaho drives, i will trade you, i will keep you in the loop for our spokane meets, and anyone else pm me so i can keep you in the loop too, and you guys keep me in the loop when you plan on having meets, we could stagger weekends, to get more meets out there between the two cities, cause i know i would show up to some cda meets aswell as spokane meets. planning a camping meet hopefully late july early august for one of these locations,
option 1, priest lake, very good location, there were jumps and good rally courses, and showers and lake 1.5 min away for the cleanliness, and swimmers alike. my spot packs 30 or so tents, with shooting area/rushing creek
option 2, kingston exit camping
option 3, red marble mines

Priest Lake? nope. Lake CDA. Shot from Potlatch Hill.

RedCelicaTRD: Sounds like fun, there's a black 04 STi in fairly good shape at Autos4Less right now. As far as IMS? of course. However i'm 4WD4SNO on there. (they messed up my Neko handle a long time ago, when the board migrated to IMS)

Ok, I know who you are over on IMS. As far as the black STi, it's a little beat. I drove it yesterday and it's too rough around the edges for me. The interior is a little stained with quite a few scuffs/scratches. The exterior has quite a few dings, a busted taillight and a cut in the rear bumper. I'm going to pass on that one and keep looking. Thanks for the heads up, though.

Ah, i'm surprised, i looked it over and actually thought it looked pretty good. Exterior seemed ok, and the engine compartment looked like it was clean and mostly unmodded. (just a silly aftermarket BOV, and maybe had an exhaust at one point). Doesn't drive very well tho? I just looked it over, didn't drive it.

Oh, and for those interested:

The next get together i plan on doing is the Tautphaus park car show on Sunday June 21. Get there around 9am, snag a little corner to ourselves, and just hang out. BBQ probably for lunch. Get in touch with me if you want, and let me know if you can bring anything. (and i'll also have an idea how many people wanna come and BBQ.)

I let my girlfriend do the driving and I was riding shotgun. She said it handled ok, but during the test drive there was quite a few squeaks/rattles on the interior and a pretty bad howl from the rear. It sounded like a bad wheel bearing but I obviously didn't look into it further. If you see any others come up for sale let me know

now thats some fun to be had. Is it dry yet all the way up?

Later in the summer, i plan on running from Idaho Falls, up through Yellowstone, over Beartooth, staying in Red Lodge, coming back over, down Chief Joseph into Cody, and then back into and through the pack to Teton park, out into Jackson, and across the two passes between there and home. Did it last year and it was some nice roads. Something like 680miles, took us 18hrs over two days. Can you say curves?
