As far as juicing goes, well Crossfit's PED testing program and policy is notoriously lax. Besides, I think all you need is a TRT exemption anyhow. Would be surprised if the vast majority of Masters folks aren't on some form, and personally I dont care if they are on/off.
I am of the same opinion.

The top athletes are tested at the games, good enough for me.

I just hope the games have more interesting programming this year. I havent been a huge fan of the workouts since about 2014.

My owner is a former Games athlete, but hasn't been in a couple years, and didn't make Regionals this year. He got a letter from HQ just recently stating that he needed to make his whereabouts known during a certain period (didn't hear how soon it would be or anything). So, they still monitor even people more "off the radar."

That being said, no testing is going to be perfect. I think they do a decent job and there have been instances of people being caught.

My opinion is that they still only go for the smaller name athletes and kinda turn a blind eye to the big names. There are plenty of big names games athletes that almost certainly juice but HQ won't touch because of publicity. Take Brooke Ence for example which I will be amazed if she is not juicing.

The problem is that even though they are tested, it doesn't mean that they will do anything if they get cought. Since HQ is the sole decision maker, they can catch someone juicing and simply let it slide.

Let's be honest here, do you ever see HQ publicly out someone who is a top Games athlete or a podium contender? Look at all the people they "cought" so far, just a bunch of Games athletes that have no chance of making it to the top and are not high profile enough for anyone to care.

Such a long time coming. I sat at 175# for months and months. Then I finally hit 185#, and quickly followed it by hitting 196# (actually got under 206# that same day). Came just in time for 17.3, and I was able to hit 3 reps at 185# in that workout.

Looking back, the majority of it was just inconsistency of training but I also never spent the required time to understand different parts of the lift and where I was most lacking.

Officially made it into the 200# club and snatching bodyweight, on my 44th birthday to boot:

no, but I am hyped about our new gym opening up (for some reason I don't get into the Games that much, Ive never gotten into the "sport" of CF). My longtime gym closed down due to some weirdish circumstances about a year or so ago. A bunch of us started going to a gym that had a huge dome-like structure. It was spacious and had decent equipment but it wasn't climate controlled and after going from a small gym that had a great workout environment to a big cavernous structure, it just wasn't the same. Luckily, one of the longtime members of the old gym found a great space and over the last three weeks have been converting it and outfitting it with all new equipment. Grand opening is Saturday.

Ill have it running while at work tomorrow. Not impressed so far with the event choices, especially IE4. IE4 will make watching Murph look like the Superbowl.

Looks like if anyone was going to get Fraser, this is shaping up to be the year. Listed events so far are not in his wheelhouse. But the dude has zero holes in his game, so it would take someone who does just a little better than Matt in those events. Maybe Fikowski or Vellner? Who am I kidding, Matt will be up 100 points by the end of day one, haha.

Womens side, I really like Tia. All the Dottir's are fun to watch and was great to see Annie come back last year. Maybe Sara this year after a full year at Mayhem? Used to like Katrin, but have gotten a little saturated and sick of Ben Bergeron.

I think Fikowski has the best chance to beat Matt, but I think an unknown competitor will be in the lead after today. Such odd events today.

I should clarify that while Iím not really impressed with the listed events so far, I am SUPER excited / curious to see these what these guys do for Crossfit Total. Is anyone going to deadlift 6+, or squat 5+? Can only think of Dancer if he was still doing individual.

This wasn't a CF gym. It is an athletic club(conventional weights, racquetball, tennis, swimming) that built this big structure for functional fitness. Problem is they didn't climate control it from the start. So when our old gym closed, they had an influx of 20ish members at anywhere from 50-100/month. When we saw how unusable it was during the winter(some mornings were single digits, and some evenings were 20ish degrees), we started brainstorming for a new space, since the club didn't wanna spend to at least provide some heat. So, in the last two weeks, they've lost all those members.

Dancer went team again.

I think we will see a 550/425/325(ish) from a couple guys.

Agree with those deadlift and squat numbers. I would be surprised if many at all go 275 with OHP. Don't see any way anyone does 300+.

I think the DL and squat will both be closer to 5. I just don't think there are many really good deadlifters in the field that are going to pull 2.5-3x, but a lot of good squatters that could get to 500.

Multiple dudes pulled 500+ after the 7km trail run in the 2016 games.

Hell, Brooke Wells pulled 415.

Every year these guys get stronger. I might have over-guessed the SP, but who knows!? Hell, in 2014 Rich and Matt tried to OHS 400. It could happen in the right situation.

I think highest will be ~565, with more around the 525 mark for DL. I just think being a few days in, 4 minutes and with two other lifts will take a toll. In my experience 500-600 is a really big gap to close.

Actually went to the games last year and it was a blast, would definitely recommend it to people.

the lady that was a member/trainer at our old gym and will be at the new gym finished first in the first event today in her division. I think she's in the 45-49 division. I believe in the last three Games competitions, she's finished 6th, 3rd, and 6th. Off to a good start so far.
