Default Cobb Crank Pulley

Hey all. Posted this on Cobb's forum and got no response, so I figured I'd ask here at NASIOC.

According to Cobb in this post lightweight crank pulleys are bad:

http://www.wrxforum.com/cgi-bin/ulti...=001640#000000

However, Cobb now sells a lightweight crank pulley.

Are pulleys deemed safe/ok now? Just wondering if anybody knows anything about this.

Kris

you are confused. they just released a pulley for the WRX back in January
http://www.cobbtuning.com/pr-pulley.html

i've been running a Perrin lightweight since a week before i installed my VF30 setup and have 18K miles on it w/o any problems.

as long as it's not under driven, you should be OK. there is another VF34/Cobb up here w/o probs and there is also an modded STi that is running a Perrin w/o any probs.

all 3 vehicles are '04's

Does the COBB pulley have a harmonic dampner?

Why?? It's not needed

from the FAQ:
Isn't replacing the stock harmonic damper (pulley) bad? Subarus do not come with a harmonic damper or balancer like some other vehicles do. For other manufacturers' vehicles, this is a legitimate concern. Proof:

"Thank you for your patience as I checked with our Technical Services Department regarding your message below. They advised that the crank pulley is a pulley and nothing else. It is not used as a harmonic damper/balancer.

Thanks for the opportunity to be of assistance. If you need any future assistance, please feel free to contact us again."

Best wishes,
