What Gear Oil/Dif fluid
In the process of manual swapping my '04 RS with an 01-03 Legacy GT JDM trans. Having this trans and diff means I should have an LSD from what I've read, but as far as finding out what gear oil and differential fluid I need, I'm finding that to be a challenge. Since this is a JDM trans and diff I've no idea if that will complicate things if I ask the local Subie dealer. Can I just run what you'd run in a USDM spec wrx of the era? If so, what are the OEM Subaru part numbers if anyone's got em? Thank you!

Also the differential itself seems to have some dirt and other stuff that's gotten inside while it's been in shipping and sitting in my garage. Anyway to clean that out? Just put the diff fluid in and drain it a couple times?

The diff and trans shouldn't need anything special for fluid, just the same sort of 75W90 gear oil that you'd use in a USDM car. AFAIK, the R160 LSDs are viscous LSDs (exception being some from the early '90s, but that shouldn't apply here), so they don't require special fluid.

Pat's got ya covered. Don't over think these fluids. 99 cent/quart cheapy fluid is the way to go. If you put in blingy stuff to impress the ladies, you'll be impressing them with synchro grinding.
