Good to hear he is okay. My father had angioplasty a few years ago. He's still kicking and, unfortunately, still smoking ~2 packs of cigarettes a day.

If my pops did that i'd punch him in the face. Literally. And when he woke up and asked why the hell i did that, i'd say because you continue to smoke. Satan if there is anything i can do to help out, just ring.

Yeah, I hoped it would have been a sobering experience for him, but he's been smoking since he was 11. Quitting now would probably kill him actually.

Don't let it shake you up too bad, man. My father has had three heart attacks, with the last one requiring an emergency quintuple (5!!) bypass surgery, and he's still ticking, living a normal life, and working everyday (although he won't be running any marathons...). It's a bit of a sobering experience, but hey, that's life. Glad he hear he's OK.

Glad everything is ok. He should be prepared to be pretty weak for a while. A friend had a heart attack at 46. Apparently its just genetic as he was in good shape, ran every morning, etc. He is fine now fortunately.

Yep. He said the pain in his chest was gone the instant they put it in. Very true. Thank you all very much for the well wishes. I spent most of the day with him today and he is doing great. He was up walking around and looks like himself again. He's staying at the hospital until Sunday and then his sister (a nurse) is taking him to Maine to take care of him until after Christmas. |

Glad to hear it was relatively minor and that he should be fine.
My dad had a heart attack in the spring of 2001 (March 17th, the day we went to order our WRX). A quadruple bypass was enough to convince him to quit smoking for about 6 months tops I've never been a fan of smoking but it just kills me to think about him still smoking after something like a quadruple bypass. It's also sad that I don't have a 'good' picture of us together at my college graduation because he wouldn't put his cigarette down long enough so every picture of us has him smoking. I got one of mom and me when she was between cigarettes and he was upset that there wasn't a good one of us |
