Default Any updates on COBB's full carbon body Time Attack car?

I searched and could not find any recent information.

It was introduced at SEMA 2006. I believe in 2007 I read somewhere that Cobb would be getting the car out on the track for some testing, but I haven't heard a word about it since. Has anyone heard anything about this car?

I'm very interested to see how a 2,200 lb car with 800 AWHP does. Hopefully Cobb/Trey will chime in

From what I understand, the first competition for the car will be at our Redline Time Attack event at Miller Motorsports Park this June 28th-29th.

I'm sure Trey/Justin will chime in....

Oh cool. I wish the time attack was at Buttonwillow so I could check it out. Thanks for the information.

um...once the car has been caged and seam welded...wonder how soft it really could be

As for the car, I'd love to see it run.

It is an all carbon fiber body, what would stock aerodynamics matter???

Really, it is all about marketing, not a lot of people interested in sponsoring really old looking cars that aren't "true" classics.

It's not stock aerodynamically. It was wind tunnel tested as a model then pieces were made by Kartboy off that model.

Bump. With companies like Crawford, AMS, Element, GST, Harman Motive/AQ Motorsports fielding some high profile T/A Subarus, I was just hoping to see Cobb's Carbon monster hit the track soon. How awesome would it be to see the Crawford car, Cobb carbon GD, Cricket NSX, GST GC, AMS Evo, and Cusco/Tomei GD battle it out in Unlimited at the same Redline event? BTW, what happened to the Cusco/Tomei car, I thought it was built to be a US based T/A car?

From what I hear, the Tomei/Cusco car is sitting in a garage in SoCal... team has no budget to run the car at events. :-( Maybe we can convince them to bring the car out for a battle of all ages at our Season Finale at Auto Club Speedway.. then mix in the big boys from the UK Time Attack.. Glorious Time Attack Heaven!

The difficulty has to do with bureaucracy of having Tomei/Cusco/Voltex having to agree on what to do with the car. The goal now is to beat the HKS CT230R times at Buttonwillow.

True..

However, I see there being a shift from the mindset of "who has the fastest time, of all time, on a given track"

To: "Who has the fastest time, at a given track, on a given day"

Granted, track records will always be important, and a part of TA.. but beating a multitude of other cars of the caliber of FXMD, SierraSierra,Tomei/Cusco, HKS, etc, at a given event (regardless of lap records), is going to begin carrying much more weight, beginning even this season...

^ i still think most just care about the track records.. it would be awesome to see the hks times being beat.. really sad that the cusco/tomei car isnt being used.. since they did such an awesome job on the build.

That Cobb carbon car has been dead before it even started. That car will never see day light with Cobb. Maybe if someone else buy it???

That car was never model in the wind tunnel. That car was design with CFD.
